An Update to the newest Parabola-Version just made it worse: Presentation Page didn’t show up although activated through config panel. So I went back to 1.2.0.

Parabola is one of the best themes I have ever used. I love it. Super responsive and beautiful.

One more thing, the instructions I posted were bases on Internet Explorer, so getting to the tools in other browsers may be different.

Using Zed’s instructions, I was able to locate the “offending” JavaScript. For those who don’t know how to get the browser dev. tools, try going to the Parabola Settings page, then press F12 or the Function + F12, depending on your keyboard. You should see it pop up on the bottom. Reload the Parabola settings page, and if there is an error, the debugger should stop where the error is. Hope this helps!

Ben
Hi, The reason for installing a child theme is to allow changes to header and footer:
1. Header to include logo in header but still show business name and contact information (as trackable click events).
2. Footer to control text position and style.
3. Provide header and footer that are legible on mobile devices.I have attempted both Mantra and Parabola child themes, with the same result.
After disabling cache, create folder with -child name, place minimal style.css file, activate child theme, adjust header image, navigation menu, preview and view site. The navigation areas appear as bulleted lists or drop-down selection boxes, presentation page appearance changes, with slider image appearing at top=left of screen, over navigation list.
The child themes are at http://nucafe47.com/wp-content/themes/mantra-child and http://nucafe47.com/wp-content/themes/parabola-child the Parabola child setup style.css file is patterned on a working child theme installation at http://scriptswholesale.com/wp-content/themes/parabola-child

Cryout Creations mastermindThe blog page template follows the general layout selected, so if you use a 2 columns (content+sidebar) layout (Appearance > Parabola Settings > Layout), you’ll get a sidebar on this page/template as well.
To add content before the posts you can use the Above Content widget are to place your content and a conditional widget plugin to make that content appear only on this particular page.
Parabola doesn’t have borders/shadows around posts/content.

Cryout Creations mastermindHi Wayfarer!
It’s nice to see you all over the forums.
1.That will most likely be implemented for version 1.0 when we’ll add Color Schemes. Something very similar already exists in Parabola if you want you can check it out. Loading a Color Scheme only overwrites the Color, Text and Graphics settings (and you can load the Default Color Scheme as well)
2. a) We have plans to add a Continue Reading button for the slider as well
b) You can add your own excerpts by using the Custom Slides option in the Theme Settings >> Presentation Page settings
c) We’re considering adding 2 position variables (left and top) as well for the text box but at the same time we don’t want things to get too complicated.3. We are coding ninjas 😉 You don’t see us but we’re there.

Cryout Creations mastermindUse your browser’s dev tools to inspect for JavaScript error in your dashboard (specifically on Parabola’s settings page). Look for names/source of the scripts to figure out which plugin is causing them and disable that.

Cryout Creations mastermindBeside the very slow loading of your site (might be an issue between my internet and your host, plus I’m on a different continent), Firefox does not support TIF files; try opening this in Firefox: http://gotschadesign.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/Slider-1.tif
Use JPG or PNG images for the slider.

I am having some difficulty with your themes (both tempera and parabola) where I am unable to change any of the theme specific settings. The menu does not expand to allow me to make the changes. I have attempted to open them in chrome, firefox, and IE with the same effect. I have un/re-installed WP, both themes, and am at a loss for what to do now. Please help 🙂
Thanks!

Hey Zed,
Could you be a little more specific? I am also having this problem and doing what you suggest isn’t working. All of my comments were getting attached to a image in the library and when I deleted that image, I not only don’t see any comments but the database isn’t even recording them. Before I deleted this image file I had to manually put in the comment_postID in the cuf_comment table and manually put in the comment_count in the cuf_posts table. I would really need some help with this. thanks! BTW, I am using “Parabola” and I think you guys did a great job on this theme!!

Cryout Creations mastermindThat’s really a design choice. So if you like the ‘gap’ design you go with Parabola, if you like ‘filled’ design you go with Tempera or Mantra. There’s no easy way of making one look like the other.

Hi David:
It might be as simple as using a 1px by 900px transparent gif. Insert it via html under your short text to artificially stretch the sheet/page.
If you don’t remember how, look up

Good luck

I’m using Google Chrome and Firefox, issue exist on both of them.
I found a way to go around this issue, but it’s pain in the back and it’s taking ages.
I exported default setting to the file, and than made changes manually in the settings code itself, than imported modified file to parabola settings and it actually works. Of course if I make any changes in Parabola setting in admin panel it resets to default again.
