I am getting the same message on Parabola and none of the changes I make on the backend are showing up on my page

Hi all, I want to disable comments on ALL pages, have followed your tutorial above, comments on all pages are manually disabled everywhere (in wordpress and the parabola theme) but they still show up on the site. Anyone any idea? Other than that I love Parabola!

Michael
I’m not sure if this solves the problem anyone is having with the Slider not working in Parabola, but it should work fine with the following settings:
1) Go to Parabola Settings > Presentation Page > Slides. In the “Slides Content” box, select “Sticky Posts”. In the box under this you can select the Maximum number of slides you want to appear in the Slider.
2) Make your slides (images) a “Post” instead of a “Page”, etc.
3) On right hand side of page under Publish > Public > (Check the box: “Stick this post to the front page”)
4) Under Format, select “Image”
5) Under Featured Image, select the same image as in step #2, to be displayed in the Slider
You can add as many Posts (images) as you like as opposed to being limited to only (5) if you select “Custom Slides” in step #1 above.
That’s it!

September 3rd, 2013 at 16:58 #11995In reply to: Image header resizing with fixed with of 1930
Zed
Cryout Creations mastermindHi.
I would have replied to your previous forum topic, I just didn’t get around to it.
The checkbox you mention does a totally different thing than the issue you reported. It’s meant for the mobile/responsiveness view of the site, it has nothing to do with featured images used as header images.
The fix we included in Mantra 2.1 / Parabola 1.0.1 makes the theme use the image with the exact size as the header to display there. This works when the uploaded image is bigger or at least exactly the size of the header (as configured).
The trick is that WordPress generates cropped images on upload, and it generates them on the sizes configured at that exact moment. If in the meantime you changed your header size, the images are no longer valid and it reverts to using the full size version.
I tested this behaviour (after implementing the fix) and as you can see in the image below, the 1920×1080 image (which is also displayed in the post, but also set as a featured image) is cropped and resized to fit in the header at the correct size (as configured in the settings).
If you still encounter issues getting the wrong image size after the updates, try to delete that image from the library and re-upload it (to force WordPress to re-create the smaller versions).

Yes they do sort of. I checked and unchecked everything i possibly could think of, and got it to work this morning. I still have a problem though…If you click on the newest post there are only 1 picture visible and not the 3 i put in it. How come? The picture that is showing comes from cincopa and those not showing is from regular WP menu. They show in the excerpt but not in the full post. If i change every picture to Cincopa they wont show in the excerpt. Strange…
And now all of a sudden the whole theme has gone bonkers without me doing anything. What is happening?BR

Zed
Cryout Creations mastermindUse the name of the font as it is displayed on the embed code at Google. If the font name is made up of several words, the correct name will most likely contain pluses instead of spaces, eg: Font+Name
If the font features several styles, the name is even more complicated, like Font+Name:300,300italic,400,700bold

I managed to read a bit of it by refresshing the page over and over… it says I can’t use the Mantra settings since there is a problem with jquery. I have NO plugins installed. This is a fresh install of wordpress 3.6 and a fresh install of mantra. Parabola doesn’t have the same message. The person that will admin this site will be overwhelmed with parabola settings so I want to Mantra.

Hi there. This is exactly what I am looking to do and the above seems very helpful. Unfortunately as a newbie to this I am not sure where the index.php is (or where my parabola folder is for that matter)
I can see Parabola “settings” but I cannot see it in there.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. 🙂August 26th, 2013 at 10:22 #11609In reply to: Problems After Update

Hi, I have the spanish translation nearly finished but I see that the string about the accents colors (admin/settings.php:833) is still shown in english (Parabola v1.0.0). Also there is a problem with the help of “HTML tags in Excerpts” (admin/settings.php:1345) because Poedit only shows “By default WordPress excerpts remove all HTML tags (“ and in Parabola Settings this string is longer and is shown in english too.
Anyway, thanks for the theme.
It’s great.August 24th, 2013 at 21:29 #11546In reply to: turn off breadcrumbs

Hi Mauro,
I also started using the Parabola Theme and I wanted to display the blog beneath the presentation page. I couldn’t find any option in the Settings Page to do so, but a very small modification of the template code seems to do the trick:
Get the index.php in your Parabola folder
in line number 16 in that file, instead of “else :” write “endif;”
in line number 59 delete the “endif;”
Upload the modified index.php to your Parabola folderI’ve done it this way and for me it works, so far nothing seems broken.

Hi,
Just re-uploaded Parabola – I had to delete the theme files and re-upload/activate. I have the excerpts turned back on now. I was able to figure out how to choose the image using “Featured Image” box in the Edit Post/Edit Page screens. They are still not rotated correctly, however. Thanks for the help!

Hi – I see you were looking at my site while I was updating. I used the file management in C Panel and removed the Parabola Theme files, uploaded again, then activated. Seems to work now. I have my images on the presentation page now if you want to take a look.
August 11th, 2013 at 16:47 #10825In reply to: Head Image width
Zed
Cryout Creations mastermindParabola supports full-width header image, but in a not-documented (yet) way:
Remove your current header image and leave the header background colour field empty. Do set the header the desired height, though.
Then use this custom CSS to define the full-width header image:
#header-full { background: url(path/to/full/header/image.png) top|center|bottom center|left|right no-repeat|repeat-x; }Keep in mind this image is not responsive and also that you’ll need a proper sized image that either repeats itself cleanly or looks properly on all screen sizes.

Nice layout. Try disabling the Meta Bar and see if that gives you the results you are looking for.
Appearance> Parabola Settings> Post Information Settings> Meta Bar> Disable
By the way a couple of the pictures on your home page take you to the URL of the image. Reroute it to take you to the article it makes more sense. Hope this helps.

The text box is rather small so anything lengthy is best edited in something like MS Word.

Copy and paste what’s below in to the text box and save the settings.
#access, #access .menu { text-align:center; } #access ul li { float: none; display: inline-block; text-align:left }
