I’ve uploaded the latest Parabola theme. I cannot find where to adjust header width. I’m limited to 1050px. How do I get it to span the entire width?

The presentation page areas enable/disable issue you’re reporting is fixed in 0.9.7(.1/.2).
I also found that the top menu background colour on hover didn’t work, and that is fixed as well, but the top menu text and text hover colour options worked and still work fine.

OK, I found the “post excerpts settings” option. But the problem is now that the articles are cut after à precise number of words (50) whereas all my articles are cut at the end of a sentence with the “more text” option of the wordpress post editor. Moreover, each article begins with a picture which diseappears now.

Yes, I know, it’s not Parabola. In fact I’m making test with Theme Test Drive before changing the theme. It’s just to give an exemple of what I mean and what I would like to see in this Posts page.In reply to: First page
Appearance > Parabola Settings > Presentation Page…. Slide X / Column X / Extra Text items are clickable and open up a lot of input fields that control the actual content.

Parabola allowed us to try out new stuff without breaking things for existing users. In time we’ll migrate most of the featured added by Parabola in Mantra as well.
That would be a good idea, but WordPress doesn’t currently have a way of separately identifying menu items that have submenus for us to use in styling.

I have now tested with all plugins disabled EXCEPT ShowTime and the slider will not load.
the slider works with all other plugins without any problem so it does appear to be the showtime plugin that is cause me the the issue.
“Plus, I see your website is loading a jQuery copy from code.google.com, while my WordPress with Parabola and the Timeshow plugin load the local copy of jQuery.” sorry I don’t understand this, can you explain further and suggest any ways to get around the issue.
I can work around the problem by not using the presentation page and construct one myself with a different slider that I know works with the ShowTime plugin but I cannot make it look as elegant as your presentation page 🙂

Okay, so that clarifies the oddness (since both themes use 95% the same code).
While that plugin is no longer maintained, I doubts its the culprit, as the slider works fine in my tests with the plugin installed.
Plus, I see your website is loading a jQuery copy from code.google.com, while my WordPress with Parabola and the Timeshow plugin load the local copy of jQuery.
Check your other plugins as well…

Did you add widgets to the right sidebar as well?
Unlike Mantra (if you’ve previously used it), in Parabola the right sidebar is always the right sidebar, and left sidebar is always left. When using only one sidebar layouts, the widgets don’t get moved over.
The header should become transparent by simply leaving the background colour field empty (this trick works even in Mantra on all background colours). There’s no need to edit files for this.

I see you’ve disabled parabola’s social icons (so disabling the footer social icons worked) and are using a separate plugin that adds its own social icons – “floating-social-media-icon”

If what you’re trying to do is set a full-width header image beyond the width of the theme content, you’ll have to do quite oa bit of customizations to the theme (or you can await our future Parabola theme).
Otherwise, both the header image and the logo are limited to fit INSIDE the theme content width (the area clearly delimited with white background).
