This is with v0.96, it seems that each time there is a slider transition, images on the entire page are reloaded/re-rendered, so the slider is not smooth.

No issues in firefox or ie10.

Another slider related issue, the transition effect don’t seem to change, even though I pick different transition effects, it always seems to use the same one.

For a problem free slider and slide transitions please use images of the correct size (as defined in the presentation page settings.)
