In reply to: put widgets on bottom when browsed by Smartphones
Zed
Cryout Creations mastermindDue to the layout of the elements moving any of these widget areas to be displayed below the content on mobile devices is very complicated. I suggest placing bulky widgets to the third widget area so they’re not displayed on mobile devices (like before) and don’t use up space before your actual content.
Previously the theme had one widget area which was only visible on desktop (being entirely hidden on mobile devices). We’ve split that into 3 separate widget areas: two visible on all devices (one above and one below the menu) – these are generally meant for small widgets / short content and a third widget area that’s hidden on mobile devices – this is the one meant for large sidebar content.

Thanks, I’ve done this but I am still getting the full posts displaying on the home page and my category pages as well. It says ‘post formats always display full posts’ underneath the ‘standard posts on homepage’ dropdown menu which is strange. I don’t know what that means and how I can change it…?

My meta information is missing…
I’ve checked the boxes for displaying date, time and comments under meta information, but it’s still missing from my post on my front page.Does someone know what string/code I have to use, and where to put it(what file)? (I edit the files through FTP).
Best regards!

Thank you! I thought it needed something to specify homepage only, but didn’t know what I needed to do.
I had to put a comma between #branding and #logo and now it’s working.
.home #branding, #logo { display: none; }September 3rd, 2017 at 17:00 #53152In reply to: Custom image as Featured Icon blocks
Zed
Cryout Creations mastermindThe featured icon blocks are intended to display icons (hence their name). If you need different behaviour for a specific site we can generally do that through our customization service.

Hi,
I have used the code and now the texts of the icons and the title in the featured boxes are showing in the selected language. However, the posts displayed are only in English while the language selected is Spanish.
Is there a way to fix it?

Power UserThank you very much. I did a plugin update for jetpack and I think the mobile theme was enabled.
I unchecked and this got the Temepra mobile theme back, but it’s now displaying a Not found message?
Why is this and how do I fix it. The site looks fine on laptops and desktops.Thank you for your time.

I don’t use plugins – only PoEdit.
OK – it looks we have three possibilities.
1. /wp-content/languages/themes/fluida-xx_XX.mo – everything works fine
2. /wp-content/themes/fluida/languages/fluida-xx_XX.mo – no one string displays in my language
3. /wp-content/themes/fluida/languages/xx_XX.mo – everything works except CustomizerRegards

Zed
Cryout Creations mastermind@eitrc, your question sounds entirely different to the original one.
Are you looking to display different header images on (static) pages? The theme can do that if you enable the Featured images in the header option and apply featured images to the desired pages.

Thanks for your reply, Zed.
I’ve followed your advice and added the following lines telling the CSS to hide the first article of the #content-masonry ID:
#content-masonry article:first-of-type {
display:none;}Thing is, with this the second post takes the place of the “hidden” one, but the third one doesn’t take the place of the second one and remains in the second row in the desktop view.
I think a more correct way to do it would be modifying the posts query, but your template uses a query I don’t understand enough to modify it.
Any idea?

Power UserOh dear! I did as you directed but category descriptions still did not display. I’ve since backed that out and then spent about four hours inserting and replacing code as directed by the WordPress Codex and as suggested by everyone I could find by searching for how to display category descriptions, and nothing has worked. I’ve worked with both the archive.php and the category.php pages. What should I do now?
Parabola is a beautiful theme and I appreciate Appearance > Parabola Settings instead of the customizer, but I just gotta have category descriptions display.

August 20th, 2017 at 18:06 #52402In reply to: Featured icon blocks
Zed
Cryout Creations mastermindFeatured icon blocks get their content from pages. They can be configured to display either excerpts or the full page content.
Normally pages don’t have manual excerpts in WordPress but this can be changed through the use of plugins. You could then enter the desired text in your page’s manual excerpt.

Cryout Creations mastermindAll of the site’s sections (including the blog) will use the theme’s general Layout option (as configured in the settings). Static pages can have a different layout page template assigned to display different sidebars.

Cryout Creations mastermindThe theme has the option to display ‘posts’ on the homepage presentation page feature. If you have sticky posts then those will be displayed as well (and not count towards the number), but the theme does not specifically target ‘sticky posts’ on the homepage posts list.

Hi @Zed,
It turns out that the issue with the photos displaying was due to a plugin, which we no longer have, that compressed the images and changing their names.
I have another question for you if you could help. The FEATURED IMAGES AS HEADER IMAGES is enabled yet it is not working correctly. Why is that? I’ve already checked the plugins and they’re not the cause.
Thanks

August 18th, 2017 at 19:01 #52259In reply to: Menu Bar Responsiveness
I ended up fixing the problem! To anyone who’s curious how, here’s the coding you should enter into your CSS editor:
#masthead.cryout #access {
display: table;
}#masthead.cryout #nav-toggle {display: none;} /* display the mobile menu (stack icon) */
August 15th, 2017 at 00:48 #51949Really? That’s weird. I’ve visited another website that uses the Fluida theme, and on this website there’s clearly an option (button) to reveal more posts. (the website is http://www.pottergates.com)
I should note: this website has enabled all options for the Landing Page, which is probably the only reason this button shows. But since the Top Boxes, Bottom Boxes and Text Area all feature the same content, it should be possible to select just one of these display options for your landing page whithout losing the ‘more posts’ option

Hi All,
My site is using a Parabola child theme with a few styles that differ from the main theme. After updating the Parabola theme, the featured photos stopped displaying on the posts and pages. Is the updated theme the cause or is something else the culprit? I’d be much obliged to be pointed in the right direction.
Thanks

Power UserI’ve just gone back to an old post and set the featured image and it’s now displaying in the home page previews. I never used this before because I found that earlier posts with images in text were being displayed automatically…
I’ll now use the featured image setting for all posts 🙂
Thanks
August 13th, 2017 at 18:34 #51894In reply to: Home Page Name Showing on Landing Page
Zed
Cryout Creations mastermindThe theme can display either the static page (default) the posts lists or nothing at the bottom of the landing page.
Adjust the landing page featured content option and set it to disabled if you don’t want to display your static homepage there.
Your site also appears to be using caching, so you may not see option changes instantly.

Zed
Cryout Creations mastermindYour copy of Septera appears to have modified styling in its main styling file:
.lp-block { position: relative; display: block; float: middle; <-- overflow: hidden; background: transparent; margin-right: 4%; }However there’s no middle/center float value in CSS.
I recommend keeping the theme files unmodified and performing all customizations through the child theme.

Cryout Creations mastermindWhat do you mean by “navigate”?
When it is enabled and displayed on the site, the slider displays the images with short captions (titles and texts) on top and allows linking to other site sections or external links.

This replaces the actual theme on mobile devices, displaying an entirely different design.
