Which version of WordPress are you using? Did you or someone else install WordPress and Parabola on your site?

Is the required settings plugin also installed?

Since version 1.7 Parabola supports widgetized columns (columns configured via widgets) which can be any number.
See our dedicated tutorial on this functionality.

Parabola registers a slider-specific image crop/resize size (as configured in the settings) and attempts to use the featured images generated for this image size in the slider.

Try using a thumbnail regeneration plugin to make sure your images have a slider-specific image variation (to fit in the slider).

Adjust Parabola’s content background color (currently configured to #ffffff). That options applies throughout the site, including the homepage.

Parabola’s site title and logo features already link to the homepage (when used).
The header image does not link to anything by itself, but if you don’t use either the site title or the logo you can set the header to be ‘Clickable header’ and this will make the entire header area to link to the homepage as well.

We are having a similar issue. We have Woo Commerce and Parabola and after updating, all the pictures to our product no longer show. Anyone know what we can do? Can we revert to the previous version of Parabola until there is a fix? I’m not sure how to do so. Please help, it is affecting business.

You can find the changelog on WordPress here: https://themes.trac.wordpress.org/changeset?old_path=parabola/1.7.1&new_path=parabola/1.7.2#file101

This will show what changed from 1.7.1 to 1.7.2, if you follow the change in theme_loop.php it will work again!

If I’m understanding your first question right, you should be able to find what you’re looking for under Parabola Settings > Post Excerpt Settings. (If not, then sorry, I’m not sure!)

The reason the third post has the Read More button is because you must have added the READ MORE code to the post itself–that’s not a page break. Edit the Super Nash Bros EP 1: The Cast, The Games, And The Milk post and, if you’re under the Text editor, you should see something that says:

    <!--more-->

And if you’re using the Visual Editor, it’ll show a line of dashes with “MORE” written in the middle. (Or something similar.) That is, I believe, what’s causing the button to show up.

    Hope this helps!

If you’re talking about that blank box below your menu and above your content area, it looks like a widget. Do you have a widget set for the Above Content Area? Your source code shows some kind of ‘googletag’ javascript code, so I think that’s the issue. (It looks like it’s supposed to be a header script, but that’s only a guess, because I’m not familiar with it.)

I’d try moving the widget to the Inactive area (if there’s one there) and seeing if that gets rid of the box. At least then you’ll know whether that’s the cause.

*Note: I’m just another Parabola user, so I’m only speculating/trying to help.

The tutorial applies to Tempera, Nirvana and Parabola (since 1.7). I have amended the content to more clearly state this (as it was initially written for Tempera only).

If you’re using post-generated columns, the widgets are not used anymore. Make sure the posts that are displayed in the columns have featured images and that these images are larger than (or at least) the configured column size.

@InstantNostalgia, @Lanie, could you enter Parabola’s settings and check if the columns are properly set to “custom content”? (We’ve added widgetized columns in 1.7).

@Lanie, could you give a link to your site?

Barry, this is the forum for Nirvana. Parabola doesn’t have search forms in menu options.
Also, widgets and menus are different things – look for the search widget in the Appearance > Widgets interface.

Thanks Zed, but NO custom CSS codes work in Parabola. I think I am going to get rid of Parabola and find a theme that is not so controlling and not such a nightmare to work with.

Hi! When we open up our Parabola Settings page, there is nothing there except a “Reset to Default” button and a “Save Changes” button. I tried resetting to defaults but the rest of the Parabola Settings are still invisible on our admin page.

Should we just uninstall and reinstall? Or is there some way to access the page?

    Thanks!

If you were using the theme’s presentation page, that is not an actual page, however its contents is configurable in the theme’s settings, under Appearance > Parabola Settings > Presentation Page.

I’m a big fan of Cryout creations themes and the flexibility in layout they offer. The one minor nuisance for me is that I’m used to themes that display the featured image inside the post or page. The right way to use theme themes from the start is to simply put the desired image in the post and then set the theme to auto select the featured image from the post. But what if you didn’t build the site that way from the start?

I just switched a site with a lot of content that relies on featured images in posts to Parabola, and I thought I’d have to make a child theme to show the featured images, but decided to look for a plugin first. Voila! This plugin works great: Featured Image in Content. Hope others find it useful.

I have installed the Cryout Serious Theme Settings plugin, activated it, and I still have that blank settings page. I have updated to the latest parabola (1.6) verified no updates available via Dashboard-> Updates. No plugin updates available either.

I’m stuck unable to edit the site.

Brand new installation, same issue. Firefox 44.0.2 and current Google Chrome show a one light grey box below the TOP menu section (under the Mantra icon) and ABOVE the “RESET TO DEFAULTS” button.

Clicking the Mantra settings produces a quick flash of text that is within an expanded version of the light grey box. This goes away immediately after the flash.

This is a brand new WordPress 4.4.2 installation (via Scriptalicious), NO plugins running, on a Cpanel site running on a shared host that’s been well proven WordPress host.

The box text that flashes is the following:
    Checking jQuery functionality…
If this message remains visible after the page has loaded then there is a problem with your wordpress jQuery library. this can have several causes, including incompatible plugins. The Parabola Settings page cannot function without jQuery.

The columns in Parabola are not yet widget-based so they do not support (other) widgets.

In Parabola social icons use the first accent colour for their background colour and the menu background colour for the hover. The icons themselves are always light grey since they’re images.

We are running several WP-sites with Parabola and experience the same thing with disappeared date/time in the frontend.

Very much liked the Parabola template. Made a start but found a problem – see earlier posts. Flagged the problem up on the forum but no response, so decided to sign up for the $25 contribution to get Premium Support. Sent the query to Premium Support who suggested a possible solution which I immediately tried but sadly, it didn’t work, so I replied a few minutes after the initial email from Premium Support explaining it hadn’t resolved things and I attached screen shots showing that I’d carried out the suggestions but to no avail. Since then, a period of over 36 hours, I’ve heard nothing.

In many ways, it is good to discover early that this would be a bad choice for me as a template for my business as I can’t be going days without resolving issues. So, despite how much I liked the template and despite the modest $25 investment, I’ll be using a template from elsewhere. It seems many others are also unable to get a response which is a real shame.
