James
Hello,
I am writing about an issue I am having with the Parabola “Presentation Page” settings on our Web site. The issue we are having is with the column graphics on the “Presentation Page” when the Web site is viewed on a mobile or iPad device when rotated.
The presentation page has several segments that make up the page: Header, footer, slides, and presentation page columns. We currently have the settings set to show one of five different graphics displaying in the center “Slides” graphical element on the presentation/home page of the site. Beneath that main graphic element, there is a section labeled “Presentation Page Columns.” We currently have that option set to show three of the four available graphic items in the presentation page column settings under theme appearance.
So, the issue is when the iPad (or cellphone) is in the portrait display mode. In this mode the Web page Center graphic resizes and displays the images properly; however, the three graphic elements below it do not. They wrap instead of resizing? When the iPad or phone is rotated back to landscape mode everything displays again as expected.
It seems that the “Slides” section of the presentation/home page has an attribute applied to it that causes the “Slides” element to resize the displayed content based on the orientation/page size of a device. But, the “Presentation Page Columns” placeholder section does not seem to have this same/similar attribute and wraps the the graphics instead of resizing them.
Is this a bug or feature? Please advise.
Thank you!

Zed
Cryout Creations mastermindI use Parabola with Jetpack on my personal blog and have been using it for several years.
Your issue is most likely not theme related (you can even test this by trying to connect to Jetpack while having one of the default Twenty themes active). Your host needs to allow outgoing connections from your site to Jetpack’s services and the return response.
You need to figure this out with your host – only they know what is allowed and what is blocked on their servers. If you like our creations, help us share by rating them on WordPress.org.

Zed
Cryout Creations mastermindParabola does not display a pagination for the presentation page posts.
We will not be adding a pagination (what happens to the non-posts presentation page contents – slider, columns – on subsequent pages?) but we may add a dynamic “load more posts” in a future version (similar to Tempera and Nirvana). If you like our creations, help us share by rating them on WordPress.org.

Mauro
Hi,
the menu color issue is present in Nirvana demo installation too. The issue is related to Microsoft Edge in Windows 10. If you don’t hover slowly on the main menu the fade does not complete and the original color is not restored, so the menu item often is left dark gray.
I’ve found a similar issue in Parabola demo using Edge, IE works fine.
I’m noticing a growing number of visitors using MS Edge on my web sites, this could be a relevant issue in you great themes.December 9th, 2015 at 17:11 #34375In reply to: Parabola setting page is blank

November 13th, 2015 at 18:47 #34162In reply to: Color Settings Won't Work
Zed
Cryout Creations mastermindStart by checking if your Parabola colour fields still have the hash sign (#) in front of the colour codes in the settings.
If they are gone, that’s always caused by a plugin interfering with the settings page. Most such plugins also create two colour selectors (instead of the normal single selector provided by the theme), however this may not always be the case. You’ll need to cycle through your plugins (by temporarily disabling them) and re-saving the theme settings with at least one colour field with the # restored to see if it sticks. Once you figure out which plugin it is, you can restore the # sign for all colour codes and re-save settings. You then need to either stop using the problematic plugin or never save theme settings when you have the plugin enabled.
If this is not the case (the # sign is still present in the colour fields) let us know so we can look for other causes.

This seems like a popular request. Please consider adding it to Parabola.
In the meantime, for us semi-hacker types, can you point us to the place in the code that we might change? At our own risk, or course. Thanks.

Figured it out – for some reason adding it to the Parabola Child theme was not working, added the script to the main Parabola theme header.php and it did! Just have to remember to do it every time there’s a theme update…….

Update: I also tried Parabola and the frontpage works as usual, but whenever I try accessing another page or post, it goes to the defaced page. It works just fine with Mantra, though…
Later Update: When I change the theme to a stardard worpress theme, it only shows the defaced page… I can’t access any other page.
I am confused… please help!
August 23rd, 2015 at 14:59 #33160In reply to: Custom CSS
Zed
Cryout Creations mastermindThe custom CSS had nothing to do with this issue.
You have a plugin that is overlapping Parabola’s colour selector functionality, messing up the colour codes. You need to figure out which one it is and disable it (at least while editing Parabola’s settings). In some cases the plugin adds an extra colour selector when clicking the colour field (beside the theme’s colour selector) so if you’re getting this, use it to identify which plugin is the cause (the second selector should disappear when the plugin in question is disabled).
Check the colour codes, they should all start with #. If they don’t, add back the hash sign to each code after disabling the problematic plugin.

If this message remains visible after the page has loaded then there is a problem with your WordPress jQuery library. This can have several causes, including incompatible plugins. The Parabola Settings page cannot function without jQuery. Can you fixed it ?
August 8th, 2015 at 15:27 #32494In reply to: overlap title & text on slider image on iPad
Zed
Cryout Creations mastermindThe slider captions are designed to overlap the slider images in Parabola (and they jump below the slide images on small mobile devices).
You are using a particular slider image size / slider size configuration to make the captions appear below the image, but depending on the size of the screen being viewed on, the captions may or may not still overlap the slider images. If you like our creations, help us share by rating them on WordPress.org.
