Where should the custom CSS be added? I placed it in the Custom CSS field in your porabola template, saved, but the category labels still appear:
Miscellaneous Settings >
/* Parabola Custom CSS */
#content .category-archive-meta { display: none; }Example: http://avanteideas.com/just4fun/category/minecraft/
You’ll see the “Category Archives: Minecraft” label just above the post.October 9th, 2013 at 15:16 #12883In reply to: Mobile phone display issue

This issue was resolved in the Parabola WordPress support forum:http://wordpress.org/support/topic/mobile-site-doesnt-display-properly. I had Jetpack’s Mobile theme enabled, which conflicts with Parabola’s settings. Once I deactivated the mobile theme setting in Jetpack, all was well.
Thanks again to Zed.

Hi
Sorry..please ignore what I said above
“As long as you put a copy of the folder, with the path. within your child theme you should be OK, they should not get overwritten by a theme update i.e. Parabola-child/images/socials”
I tried it out and it didn’t work as I thought, I suspect you’ll possibly need some change to the theme-functions.php file, but I’m not sure exactly what.

Hi
As long as you put a copy of the folder, with the path. within your child theme you should be OK, they should not get overwritten by a theme update i.e. Parabola-child/images/socials
You’ll need to get your replacement icons to 26px x 26px in PNG format and using exactly the same file names as the ones you are replacing.
I hope this helps

Hi Guys,
I’m using WordPress for the first time and I use the Parabola theme (i really like the slider on the presentation page/homepage).
I have a blog, and I want my readers to be able to click on ‘previous page’ and ‘next page’, so they can have a look around. But this doesn’t show up on my blog (my blog is not online yet, just local). I added a plugin called “WP-PageNavi” but the previous and next button doesn’t show up. Can anyone help me out? Then I have another problem: on my homepage (where al my blogposts will be shown), i want a left sidebar with, for example, a ‘categories’ widget. I have installed this, but it’ll be only show up at the other menu pages, but not on the presentation page/homepage. Does anyone know how i can fix it?
I’m sorry, my English is not very good 🙂

Hi Valerie
There is nothing is the Parabola Settings so has to be done via custom CSS at:
#front-text1 h1, #front-text2 h1.
Just a note, I changed mine but then had an issue with responsiveness see here:

Metaspace Webmaster
Hi Jim,
and many thanks for the posts. Well spotted! Indeed the Nivo slider was there prior to loading Parabola. I have now disabled it. Hopefully this will resolve the issue and will cause no new ones. Initial tests inicate [tentative] success.
Thanks,

Jim
Hi
When you say your home page I assume you mean the Parabola Presentation page, if that’s the case then I assume you are referring to the Extra Text boxes under the 3 columns (which can be up to 4 if needed), the extra text areas go across the full width and one above the other?
To modify these text boxes you’d need to do some custom CSS coding to the [#frontpage blockquote] area in your stylesheet.
However it might be a lot easier just to not use the Extra text areas at all and just use Footer Text Widgets.I hope this helps…

Hi
Go to Parabola Settings then to Social Media Settings then at the bottom uncheck all the options, or you can just blank all the fields for Facebook etc i.e. remove the # sign.
I hope this helps

Hi
Just an observation the Parabola theme has the nivo slider built into it, but it seems you may be using a separate nivo slider plug in on your site? Could there be a conflict going on? Perhaps deactivate the plug in and see if that makes a difference?

Sorry I’ve not seen the issue at all personally, or seen anyone post anything similar. I did see what was happening though, and after a refresh it did go to full size.

Ah OK, I didn’t realise that you wanted to retain the image but just lose the wording. Yes they would have taken an image and added a text layer to it. I guess you’ll need the theme creators to point you in the direction of the original image source.
Thanks

Thanks Jim,
Your advice didn’t help I’m afraid as I think the advertising words are embedded in the image. I think the only way to remove the words is if you remove the image, which is not what I want. Would you have any further suggestions?
Thanks and regards,
Peter

Jim
Hi Rachel
I seem to be getting the kind of information you are looking for appearing under my posts (avatar, name and bio), though I’m not quite sure how I managed to enable it, especially, if you aren’t seeing it. I’ve gone through all the relevant settings in Parabola and not been able to switch it off. Also looked through WP settings and not seen anything there either, apart from not displaying the Avatar. If I find any more info I will let you know.
In the meantime one of these plug ins may help you.http://wpmu.org/9-top-free-wordpress-author-bio-box-plugins/

Hi Muneeb
I’m just a user, like yourself, I’ve not done this myself, but maybe the Featured Image Settings within Parabola Settings might do it for you?
Looks like it’s the kind of thing.

ros phillips
So i looked at the file path of the default slider images and it shows:
…wp-content/themes/parabola/images/slider/parabola-slide3.jpg
so I just used FTP to change out the graphics. I wasted may hours trying to upload the graphics to the site using the Appearance – Parabola Settings – Presentation Page upload functionality. The pictures were uploaded to the gallery but they did not replace the slides. So FTP solved it for the immediate…
I FTP the slide image I wanted to use. Then renamed the old file slide1 and named my uploaded file to slide1.jpg and repeated for slide2 and slide3
I have only done this for the initial 3 slides. Good luck

I have now even installed parabola
So now i can get the presentation page up but cannot change out the default graphics… i select them to upload but they dont change out the actual picture on the presentation page.
I am using NexGen for gallery, not sure where else to look to swap out the images…
Any help is appreciated
October 3rd, 2013 at 21:40 #12762In reply to: Different background for presentation page
Mag
I found one that I can live with. If you set the default background to be what you want on the presentation page, you can choose other backgrounds on each individual page. This seems tedious but it allows for the pages to have a sold color, tiled or not, fixed or not.
It’s called Custom Background Extended
Seems to be compatible with parabola…so far
October 3rd, 2013 at 21:19 #12761In reply to: 2 css questions, #forbottom & font letter spacing
Mag
The white I am referring to is the setting in Mantra that says remove the white areas on the presentation page…
In parabola that was already removed until I added the #forbottom color which fills in behind botht eh content and widget areas. … now from the slider down it is the #forbottom color … behind the columns as well… Just wondered if there is a separate CSS rule for that area since my developer tools aren’t picking up on it and I’ve browsed through the css file as well.
and you are probably thinking why not just use Mantra if you are trying to make parabola look like Mantra… right? There’s some cool tweaks in parabola that aren’t in Mantra.

Just out of interest, how did you manage to get your slider on the presentation page to how 7 images when the parabola settings only give you the option to set up 5?
Thanks

If you go to appearance > parabola settings… you’ll see an orange button called color schemes, on the right, and you can import the one you want from there.

Zed
Cryout Creations mastermindThose are links valid for the single post page, not a category page (which the posts list is).
Look into that file, there’s a
//if($parabola_pagination=="Enable") parabola_pagination(); else parabola_content_nav( 'nav-below' );
line. Remove the //
Please disregard this suggestion. While this will display the navigation on the presentation page blogs, the page links are invalid.-

Cryout Creations mastermindIn Parabola you can remove all background colours (something that can’t be done in Mantra), so I’m not sure which white you mean.

Cryout Creations mastermindIf you’re referring to the presentation page, that can’t be done unless you rewrite the entire presentation page file to static HTML.
Parabola has no way of reading information on the images set to be displayed on that page.If you like our creations, help us share by rating them on WordPress.org.

Cryout Creations mastermindDisable the installed plugins one by one until you Parabola settings start working again.
Then tell us the name of that plugin and we’ll see if we can come up with a solution.
Theoretically, themes and plugins should not interfere with each other or with the javascript libraries used in WordPress, but not all developers follow the rules (especially when the extensions are older versions).
