Loving the theme (Tempera) overall, but having a major problem with the fact that html doesn’t seem to work in this theme! (Not when used in an html widget in the right or above sidebars NOR in posts or pages when in text mode.) Note that it does seem to work in footer widgets.

This is very frustrating. I know this is a new theme and you’re working on it, but a reply with a solution—or a bug fix ASAP—would be greatly appreciated!

You’re probably using some plugin that does that. Try switching to another theme and see if the problem persists.
