    Hi,

Since upgrading to latest WordPress version 6.8.1, Continue reading buttons displayed differently. In a ‘Category page with intro’ templated page it is the same as before: https://portasecula.hu/category/termek/
However in a normal page with posts queried and listed, the button is missing and only the excerpt “Read more” link can be added to have the similar functionality. https://portasecula.hu/napfeny-mindig/

What can I do to fix this?

    Hi,

I would like the posts on the presentation page to be random rather than latest.

Any advice on making that work please and thank you.

Hi there, I’m having an issue with the Sepetra theme, where the site is often missing any of the icons from the theme. For example, instead of the search box on the menu in the upper right, it shows this square box:
    Search Box

Also, and more noticeable is the icons that should be in the featured icons are instead showing square boxes:
    Featured Icon Blocks

I even see the same when I’m in the theme options where you would choose/change the icons to use:
    Settings

This doesn’t happen ALL the time, but about 25% of the time and it will usually load correctly if I refresh the page several times. I have removed almost all other plugins to troubleshoot – the onlye ones left are the same I use on all my other sites that are working w/o issue. I have used the Septera theme for several sites and never run into this issue – in fact, they are all loading fine when I test them now on the same hardware behind the same firewall so I do not suspect an issue there. I’m on WordPress 6.7.2 and Septera 1.5.1.1. Any ideas? Thanks and have a good one,
    Chris

    1) How can I add a button underneath the featured boxes on my landing page?
I want to add a call to action button to ‘Read more articles.’

    2) Also, how can I make the section description words larger “Featuring Toronto’s Brightest Entrepreneurs” or if I entre these words as the section title how can I change the font?

    Topic: Elementor crashing

    in forum Bugs

    Hello Forum,

I figured out that this is definitely caused by the theme “Fluida” and not by any other plugin or whatever. As soon as I change to a different theme there is no need to enter the safe mode in Elementor!

I am using the latest update of Elementor (v 3.27.0), WordPress has version 6.7.1 and PHP is running with version 7.4.33. The theme seems to have the latest version as well (1.8.8.1), i.e. no updates are pending as far as I can tell.

It doesn’t matter which site I’d like to update as Elementor always crashes. If more information is needed please let me know.

    #150874

Figured it out. I had the Text area set to show a particular page. That page used a shortcode to filter to the latest of a category.

I’ve been using Kahuna for quite some time, and been pleased with it. I have Text Area 1 set to show the latest post in a certain category. I’d like to now change that to a different category, but I cannot for the life of me remember how and where to do it.

Regarding this XSS vulnerability that has been a problem for a long time ….

I thought it might be better to change theme so I have searched and tested a lot of different themes. But I have not found any other theme that has a plugin that is as good as Serious Theme Settings, not even in the paid PRO versions. I have tried OceanWP Pro and Astra Pro, but they are not even close to what Serious Theme Settings can do.

All of us have probably been using Serious Theme Settings for so long that we do not appreciate what it can do and just take it for granted.

The Serious Theme Settings plugin is actually so good that it should not be free, but rather it should cost money.

So if the problem with fixing the XSS vulnerability is the economy, then I and probably many other users are willing to pay for the Serious Theme Settings plugin.

With that said, I wish everyone a happy new year.

I am not sure what errors you folks are all getting. I use Cryout Creations in all the websites that I’ve created for clients, as well as myself. I use a variety of themes, some Plus, some Free, ranging from Bravada to Septera.

Although I too was getting error codes a few months ago, those long ago have vanished. I no longer get them in either Jetpack or Wordfence.

Just last week I updated everyone’s sites to the latest version of WP (6.2) and all their plugins. No error codes appear.

I would be lying if I didn’t acknowledge that I have been frustrated with the tech response in the past by CC. That said, in the end they have come through, and did reply and sent out the patches, or told me how to fix what needed to be fixed.

I appreciate the hard work the Zed and the team at CC have done on their themes and plugins. They are functional, and quite user friendly.

If you’re only seeing the warnings logged at odd times and not when you’re for example browsing the site and testing it, those may be due to your host using WP-CLI funtionality to perform administrative tasks (such as updates, backups).

Hi everyone and sorry about the delay with a clarification.

As the warning message displayed by the security plugin itself reads,
this makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with contributor-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages

Due to sub-optimal/missing sanitization to the get_the_author() calls used by the theme, this issue can affect (larger) websites if rogue registered users (contributor/editor levels and above are needed) decide to insert unwanted content in their user name fields.

Personally, I find it weird that it’s the theme’s responsibility for sanitizing this data since it’s a core WordPress function returning database-stored content. If that field is not expected to store advanced HTML markup then WordPress should perform the proper level of sanitization/filtering on save.

To be clear, the theme does not handle any saving or input processing for this data, it only displays whatever WordPress already has saved in the database for the user name field, which has passed WordPress existing sanitization rules when that data was saved through the dashboard by users with sufficient permissions on the site.

This code has been in our themes in the same or very similar form since their launch (starting with Mantra back in 2009) and we have yet to have any kind of reports about XSS exploits through this route – frankly, if a rogue registered user with sufficient access decides to embed bad content on the site, the user name field is the least of your worries (and most likely not the first target).

This is only now popping up now because a security tester bulk reported the insufficient sanitization to patchstack.com (a large vulnerabilities testing/disclosing database which also offers paid security services), and several security plugins are taking inspiration for their lists of things to monitor from there.

Regardless of circumstances, we’ll be hardening the sanitization around the several get_the_author() function calls used in our themes, but since this issue is considered low severity/priority even by the patchstack.com report, we’ll be addressing it in the regular1 theme updates cycle as we get to them1 – for example, the correction is already present in the Bravada 1.1.3 update released yesterday.

1 Mr. Kay had a different plan so you may already notice updates out there addressing this.

Status update: As of January 24th 2025, all our themes received updates to harden sanitization on author name output function calls.

PS: I’ve split this topic from the original post as that one was about mixed http/https content in the page, which is a different matter.

Aha, I am glad I am not the only one having troubles. Unfortunately, I am not a developer, only manage a few sites (free) for clubs/associations of which I am a member and for myself. Since the latest php and wordpress updates, I have been having problems with plug ins that have always worked (ninja forms, Stripe payments in Events manager, etc.). Their managers say it is not a problem with the plugin, probably with my theme (parabola) compatibility. What to do if no replies? Sigh…

How can I leave the header image to look better on responsive phones with the Tempera theme, I am testing the plugin and a configuration in the functions.php file of the theme

    #146511

    Hi there,

I have the Bravada theme, which is really great. But I want to insert a cover block, which has the image set to fixed, but it doesn’t work. Every other theme can handle this, but Bravada doesn’t.

    I’ve made a sample page for illustration – https://test.eglivision.ch/

The main page is with the theme Twenty Twenty-four, here it works fine. with the page “cover test bravada” it doesn’t. Both pages are build with gutenberg and absolutely identical.

Can someone please help me with this issue?

    Thanks a lot.

    Hi Steve,

Thanks for the message. Lack of support has been a huge concern for me in 2023 as I’ve really grown to love Fluida Plus over the years and I would MUCH prefer to not switch away if that’s at all possible. You are right though, Priority Support should be treated as such.

I’ve been trying to give Zed the benefit of the doubt. Historically, Zed has always been fast to reply and fix bugs. I did get a reply from him maybe one month ago where he addressed being aware of some incompatibilities with the latest WordPress release and he stated he has been working on fixing it. I sent a follow-up email though because I never saw any theme updates and that follow-up email went unanswered.

I have no information beyond that. I’m really hoping the theme was not abandoned because I’ve dedicated years to customizing and building a website off of Zed’s theme templates. I’m just hoping maybe something came up that required his attention and that he will soon return. That’s my hope, anyway.

    Rocky

    This is line 284:
‘description’ => sprintf(__(‘Only drag [Cryout Column] widgets here. Recommended size for uploaded images: %1$dpx (width) x %2$dpx (height). Go to the Tempera Settings page >> Presentation Page Settings >> Columns to edit sizes and more.’,’tempera’ ), $temperas[‘tempera_colimagewidth’],$temperas[‘tempera_colimageheight’]),

A friend of mine tried Tempera in a test WP server. He cannot activate the theme, same error(PHP 8.1 and apache).
So it is a compatibility issue after all?
Please help, this is a school’s homepage, the will need it in august.
Or is there a way to migrate a newer theme of yours?

    Hi,

We always test with latest WordPress versions and I was unable to observe any issues between our Serious Settings plugin (current version 0.5.14) and WordPress 6.2.

Do you have any specific error messages with 0.5.14?

    Hi,

Mantra and WooCommerce is a combination we haven’t really ever thoroughly tested or looked into.

Customizing appearance to make things fit/match will most likely need some amount of custom styling.
A link to your site would be very useful to look at current state and test the necessary tweaks.

Testing out the site with just WordPress and the theme, without any active plugins, with all caching cleared (and browser force refreshed) is the standard course of action after any major change such as updating PHP (or moving the site, or even updating WordPress) if malfunctions occur.

If the bare site doesn’t work, reverting to one of the default Twenty themes would be a good additional step.
If that still fails, next would be digging through the server error logs to identify where the fault lies.

When a functional state is eventually reached, then extra extensions and functionality can be gradually re-enabled until something fails again or everything is restored.

    Hi,

In WordPress, the “blog” special section is designed to display latest posts regardless of other attributes (categories, metas, authors). There are no built-in filtering options for this section, but there are plugin that can add such filters.

Concerning journal posts, it depends on how those are created. If those are just regular posts, then simply creating a category page would limit the list to posts belonging to the specific journal category. If those are a separate custom post type, than those would need their separate frontend code (dedicated templates) to handle their display.

I downgraded Roseta 1.3 to 1.2.2, which fixes the issue @Zed

It’s the same issue with several (all?) cryout themes: the bug was introduced in the latest version.

But, it is strange: On a new wordpress-site, on which I install the latest roseta for the first time, the gallery block works fine. So, the issue only occures on longer existing sites, which were updated.

Could you open a support ticket and include a Tempera settings export from your site?

    Hi

theme_lpboxesbg is configurable in the theme’s color options:

That value is used with slight random variations as the background color for individual boxes so they don’t appear too uniform if they lack images:

You can override this randomized derivative background for all boxes in one section with the following CSS:

    #lp-boxes-1 .lp-box-image {
      background: #fff;
    }

Edit the number to target a specific boxes section (1, 2 or 3) and adjust the color code as needed.

The separator lines may be a side effect of this preset background in combination with custom DPI/zoom levels. Test if removing/adjusting the background also resolve the lines. If that is not the case, being able to browse your site will help in further investigating.
