    Hi there Jim, Many thanks I have tried to substitute H2 for the H1 but it just becomes very small and justified to the left. But I will keep trying. I am wondering where I find the definitions of H1 H2 etc. Perhaps I need to change one of these?
    Its a good theme and I am going to persevere.

    I tried these steps and the slider still has the spinning circle. I also don’t know why my posts keep disappearing. This is my fourth time posting here about this. I’m glad I didn’t send my $25.00 because this thing just isn’t working.

    Where should the custom CSS be added? I placed it in the Custom CSS field in your porabola template, saved, but the category labels still appear:

    Miscellaneous Settings >
    /* Parabola Custom CSS */
    #content .category-archive-meta { display: none; }

    Example: http://avanteideas.com/just4fun/category/minecraft/
    You’ll see the “Category Archives: Minecraft” label just above the post.

    Hi Mark

    You could try this (see link below), I presume you are using custom slides? I tried it for the slider text and it did justify the text to the right, and using the indent tool as well pushed it further.
    It will work for the text area but not the title.

    Hope this helps

    Hi

    Sorry..please ignore what I said above

    “As long as you put a copy of the folder, with the path. within your child theme you should be OK, they should not get overwritten by a theme update i.e. Parabola-child/images/socials”

    I tried it out and it didn’t work as I thought, I suspect you’ll possibly need some change to the theme-functions.php file, but I’m not sure exactly what.

    Hi Guys,
    I’m using WordPress for the first time and I use the Parabola theme (i really like the slider on the presentation page/homepage).
    I have a blog, and I want my readers to be able to click on ‘previous page’ and ‘next page’, so they can have a look around. But this doesn’t show up on my blog (my blog is not online yet, just local). I added a plugin called “WP-PageNavi” but the previous and next button doesn’t show up. Can anyone help me out?

    Then I have another problem: on my homepage (where al my blogposts will be shown), i want a left sidebar with, for example, a ‘categories’ widget. I have installed this, but it’ll be only show up at the other menu pages, but not on the presentation page/homepage. Does anyone know how i can fix it?

    I’m sorry, my English is not very good πŸ™‚

    Hi Valerie

    There is nothing is the Parabola Settings so has to be done via custom CSS at:

    #front-text1 h1, #front-text2 h1.

    Just a note, I changed mine but then had an issue with responsiveness see here:

    http://www.cryoutcreations.eu/forums/t/un-responsive-title-text

    I hope this helps

    Hi

    That’s good to hear, there were a couple of slider widths of 600px and 640px showing earlier which led me to the plug in. They aren’t showing now so hopefully all should be well.

    Cheers

    Jim

    Hi

    When you say your home page I assume you mean the Parabola Presentation page, if that’s the case then I assume you are referring to the Extra Text boxes under the 3 columns (which can be up to 4 if needed), the extra text areas go across the full width and one above the other?
    To modify these text boxes you’d need to do some custom CSS coding to the [#frontpage blockquote] area in your stylesheet.
    However it might be a lot easier just to not use the Extra text areas at all and just use Footer Text Widgets.

    I hope this helps…

    Hi

    Go to Parabola Settings then to Social Media Settings then at the bottom uncheck all the options, or you can just blank all the fields for Facebook etc i.e. remove the # sign.

    I hope this helps

    I love this Theme! But i have this same issue where the sidebar widgets do not appear. I have tried -Zed “The header should become transparent by simply leaving the background colour field empty (this trick works even in Mantra on all background colours). There’s no need to edit files for this..” But, still no joy!. Any help would be appreciated.

    I trust nothing less than full files and database backup. This can easily be achieved via the hosting control panel.

    Image crops are created by WordPress, not by the theme. The theme can only request particular sizes, not crop viewpoints.
    So this functionality needs to be added by WordPress.

    1) There’s a checkbox for that in the Header Settings.

    2) You’re no longer using the slider/presentation page so I can’t see this.

    It’s ok on Chrome and Firefox but not IE. Is this just an IE bug which I can’t fix or is there something I can do about it?

    Thank you.

    You should not make changes to the theme files. Use translations instead.

    And leave the link fields blank for the menu items meant to be placeholders.

    That message only means trouble if it remains displayed after the page has completed loading (a couple of seconds?).
    If it remains visible, then you’re having javascript issues (most likely caused by some plugin installed in your WordPress).

    See here for a step-by-step guide to debugging.

    Wordpress tried to do this via the “Customizer” (Appearance > Customizer), but that tool is far from supporting everything we need to build the whole array of options included.

    The best way to do it is use two open tabs, one on the settings, one on the site and refresh the site tab after you make changes (and save them) in the first tab.

    Disable the installed plugins one by one until you Parabola settings start working again.

    Then tell us the name of that plugin and we’ll see if we can come up with a solution.

    Theoretically, themes and plugins should not interfere with each other or with the javascript libraries used in WordPress, but not all developers follow the rules (especially when the extensions are older versions).

    …. the above didn’t work for the Title field in the column 1 so you will probably need to leave that blank and make that part of the text area, and you will probably need to tweak the number of pixels within padding to get it spot on.

    Hi Jesper

    I managed to do this by opening a Wordress draft page. I put the left justified text in the visual editor and then selected it and used the indent tool a couple of times. Then I went into the text tab and copied the code and pasted it into the column 1 text field, saved and it seemed to work.

    I hope this helps…

    Nope, it’s always set to medium size. I tried your suggestion of changing to Thumbnail, but it’s still blurred. Thanks a lot for the suggestion though! πŸ™‚

    Only solution I found was moving the “custom text 4” field to the bottom of the page and put a text linking the page with the “blog template”. Just edit the /parabola/frontpage.php file and put this line at the very bottom (and remove the original).

    if($parabola_fronttext4) {?><div id=”front-text3″>

    <?php echo do_shortcode($parabola_fronttext4) ?>

    </div><?php }

    Then you can edit text from the admin settings

    Regards,
    MrAwesome

    PS: I know, child themes should be used πŸ˜›

    MrAwesome

    I had the same issues. However, I solve most of them. Let me explain.

    I use qTranslate, wich works quite well except for one thing: slugs and (I think because I don’t use it) tags can’t be translated. Despite this, you can manage to translate everything.

    There is a “shortcode” you can use. Imagine you have tree languages (en, es, pt). The tittle of a widget can be translate by putting “[:en]English Text[:es]Spanish Text[:pt]Other Language”. It works fine. This can be used along all the theme options text areas.

    Regarding the front page and what Zed says, we have a problem with the links. If you put “[:en]http://en.blabla.com[:es]http://es.blabla.com[:pt]http://pt.blabla.com” or whatever, it will not work as this doesn’t validate an URL and the link will not be saved. You will have to edit the files /parabola/admin/sanitize.php and /parabola/admin/settings.php and remove the esc_url_xx() functions of desiged configuration fields. For instance, in sanitize.php, for the URL of the columns of the front page, comment the line:

    $input[‘parabola_columnlink1’] = esc_url_raw($input[‘parabola_columnlink1’]);

    This is just an brief comments, but hope this help.

    Regards,
    MrAwesome

    PD: Best option is to use a child theme, I know…
    PD2: Great theme!
    PD3: The theme can include this tricks by default! πŸ˜‰

    Ok, I don’t have a mobile device to test it out for you, however…there is one issue that I did find…and it was the same for both the responsive menu (shrunk my computer window to make it come up) and for the regular sized menu.

    It looks like some of your top level menus are trying to go to “http:///#&#8221;. That isn’t a valid destination. Are those top level menu items not supposed to be links to anything? If they’re not supposed to be links, check the URL settings under Appearance > Menus. There should either be nothing in the URL fields, or only a “#” symbol.

    Not sure if this helps fix your problem or not, like I said, I don’t have a mobile device to test it on.

    Yes, you can easily do that Debbie. You just have to install plugin called SHARETHIS. Just install that Plugin, it will solve your problem. You can also do that with coding that you can get from sharethis(dot)com Hope this will help you πŸ™‚
