    Hi,

Headings accents have had a control option since Bravada 1.1.2 (July 2024).

Also, child themes only exist for the free themes as a workaround to the repository limits. While using Bravada Plus, Ripley is integrated as one of its personalities.

I’m seeing the same issue on a client site using the Roseta theme. We tested with both third-party plugin shortcodes (Pods Framework) and a generic shortcode, and neither rendered — confirming this isn’t plugin-specific. The recursion protection introduced in 1.4.0 has removed shortcode processing from slide content entirely.

The issue appeared with 1.4.0 and 1.4.1 has not resolved it. Rolling back to the previous version restores the expected behaviour.

lazyleopard’s suggestion is exactly right — the fix should block only the slider’s own shortcodes from being processed recursively, not remove do_shortcode() from slide content output entirely. A simple exclusion of the slider’s own shortcode tag would solve the recursion problem without breaking everyone else’s use case.

Is there a filter we can use in the meantime to restore shortcode processing in slide content?

Sadly, the 1.4.1 update has not restored the function of shortcodes like the Events Manager ones I am using. The dates, times and links for activities still don’t appear in the slider text… 🙁

As I mentioned above, the short-codes work just fine elsewhere on the site. For example, on this page:

    https://www.orpington-astronomy.org.uk/activities/

It is only in the slider that they no longer work. There’s even a “smoking gun” in the update notes for version 1.4.0 where it says this:

“Added recursion protection in slide content output (mainly to protect against slider-within-slider in the block editor) – this removes shortcode support within the slide content”

My point is that the change noted above has killed not only the small number of short-codes that might cause a recursion problem, but also all the other short-codes provided by other plug-ins that don’t cause a problem. The short-codes I have in my slides have been working just fine for years.

This is usually caused by the site title or header not having enough space on smaller screens. I’d first check the mobile preview and see whether the title is wrapping, being hidden behind another element, or simply getting cut off because of the header height. Reducing the font size slightly or adjusting the mobile header spacing usually fixes it. I’d also test it on an actual phone, since the preview doesn’t always show exactly how the header behaves on every screen size.

The sudden stop correlates with exactly one change, the update of Cryout Serious Slider to version 1.4.0.

Reviewing that version’s change notes, you will there’s one about short-code changes that I quoted above.

The short-codes work just fine elsewhere on the site. For example, on this page:

    https://www.orpington-astronomy.org.uk/activities/

The details in the bullet points on that page used to appear in the correcponding sliders, and those sliders still have the short-codes un-changed, but they no longer work.

    Topic: PHP 8+ error

    in forum Bugs

I updated to PHP 8.3, and got a fatal error originating in the Kahuna theme.

The problem: In custom-styles.php on line 208, the Kahuna theme is dividing a number by zero. In PHP 7, this was harmless — it just produced a warning and the page kept loading. In PHP 8+, this is now a fatal error that stops the whole page. Claude helped me ID the problem:

This is calculating a width-to-height ratio for your Landing Page “Featured Boxes” — and it’s dividing width by height. If either of the height values ($kahuna_lpboxheight1 or $kahuna_lpboxheight2) is set to 0, you get a division-by-zero, which is exactly the fatal error you hit. In PHP 7 this just silently produced a broken/infinite value; PHP 8 correctly refuses and crashes instead.

    The fix:
Update a Customizer setting (no code editing needed)
In WordPress admin, go to Appearance → Customize.
Look for a section called Landing Page.
Find Featured Boxes settings within that section.
Look for width and height fields for Featured Box sections 1 and 2 (this matches the “2 Featured Boxes Sections” listed in Kahuna’s free feature set).
If either height field is blank or set to 0, enter a real number (e.g., match whatever the width is set to, or use a standard value like 300).
    Click Publish/Save.

I look after a website for a local amateur astronomy club. For a long time we’ve used Event Manager shortcodes to put brief information about the next meetings, trips and observing evenings into the text in slides on the Bravada Landing Page.

I was told this morning that the information is no longer appearing. It turns out that shortcode handling was removed from the slider in version 1.4.0 because of an update noted thus:

“Added recursion protection in slide content output (mainly to protect against slider-within-slider in the block editor) – this removes shortcode support within the slide content”

It seems to me that removing all shortcode support from slides because a small number of your own shortcodes can cause a slider recursion problem is not exactly optimal.

Please can you find another more selective way to avoid the problem that does not destroy useful functionality.

    Thanks.

Thanks for sharing the fix. Little styling issues like this can make a bigger difference than people think, especially on pages where users need to focus on content or interactive tools. Clean headings are much easier to read and improve the overall experience.

    Hello guys,

An IT services business wants to migrate from webflow to WordPress becasue they don’t get the same theme and backend controls at webflow as a wordpress hosting allows.
They want to migrate as they are facing slow page speeds and Core Web Vitals issues on webflow.
The requirement is to have the site look similar to what it is right now as they don’t want to loose trust from their existing users.
The current website link is given below.
I came across Esotera theme and I am liking it. My main questions is if we can use it to get faster page speeds and core web vitals? I am after a theme which is lightweight and easier to edit.

    Thank you!

    Topic: CCS Bug Main Menue

    in forum Bugs

Hallo, there is a CSS bug main menue.

On standard pages, the expanding main menu overlays the page content as intended. However, when viewing individual posts or a category overview, the expanding menu appears transparent. This overlap renders both the post and the menu unreadable.

(How) is it possible to fix this issue?

    Best regards, earens

    Hello,

I love this theme so much, but I’m having an issues with it that I’ve not had before. The site title is being cut off in mobile.

    Troubleshooting steps:
Changed header padding, changed header size, tried shortening tagline (in case text wrapping was pushing the title up), tried removing the tagline, tried changing the font size.

I’m not quite sure what to try at this time. I’m not having the same issue on another site I maintain.

Solid Security Basic notify me that the Nirvana theme (<=version 2.6) is vulnerable to a high priority for “Local File Inclusion” risk.

    https://patchstack.com/database/wordpress/theme/nirvana/vulnerability/wordpress-nirvana-theme-2-6-local-file-inclusion-vulnerability.

I think it’s a misunderstanding due to a template name being the same.
I have your Nirvana theme (latest version 1.6.5),
The Patchstack website instead refers to the Nirvana theme by Axiomthemes (latest version 2.)

I tried contacting Solid Security support but received no response…
Have you received any other reports?
    Thanks

    Hello Cryout Creations Support Team,

I am experiencing an issue with the Serious Slider on my website.

Within the slider settings, there is an option to configure up to four buttons per slide. However, only the first two buttons are being displayed on the frontend. The third and fourth buttons do not appear, even though they are fully configured in the slider settings.

    Details:

    • Theme: Roseta Plus
    • WordPress version: 6.9
    • Slider type: Serious Slider
    • Number of buttons configured: 4
    • Number of buttons displaying: 2

There are no visible error messages in the dashboard, and the buttons are properly filled out (label, link, etc.). I have also cleared cache and tested in multiple browsers to rule out a caching or browser-related issue.

Could you please confirm whether this is a known limitation, a configuration issue, or possibly a bug? If needed, I can provide screenshots or temporary access for troubleshooting.

    Thank you for your assistance.

    Kind regards,
    Daniel

    Hi!
In Roseta, I’ve the “Featured Content”-Section in the admin menu. There I created a “featured box” (screenshot box created)
I open: Customizer > Lading Page > Featured Boxes 2
I expected to find the saved featured box in the dropdown field, but the section of “featured boxes” is empty; see screenshot: Screenshot Dropdown featured boxes

    Is it a bug?

I’m using Bravada and have the Menu Position (in Customising > Header > Menu) set to ‘Over Header Image’. This works for all the pages except the landing page where it appears with a white banner. I’ve tried changing the landing page image to Banner Image, Header Image, Serious Slider, Custom Slider, and it’s the same with all of them.
Is there a way to fix this?

    site: https://cathiezusy.org/

At the bottom of the page, there’s a white box with the text:
© Copyright 2026, Cathie Zusy. All rights reserved.
I can’t seem to get rid of this box and text.

I had previously tried Kahuna and Tempera – I think I added that line in Tempera. I could switch back to Tempera, delete the line, and then return to Parabola, but will this leave all my Parabola settings intact?

    Thanks!

I have Fluida plus, but there is no customization section to switch to one of the other “Personalities” Can you please check this out?

    Hello
Somewhere down the line I lost my site title and description and social icons on my presentation page/home page. In th Parabola settings under Header settings, I have still selected “site title and description” in the Site Header field. So what can be the problem? Could it be that by accident I have changed something in the costumizer setting that are provided by WordPress, instead of the special Parabola settings in the dashboard?
I doubt it but I cannot find what could be the problem.

    Topic: Theme like example

    in forum How To

Hi. I am fairly new to worpress.org. I did use wordpress.com though.

I love this theme and basically I want to have it exactly like in the example. But now that I selected it, it looks totally different. This is how it looks like: Current view
How do I get it the same? Like for example, I want a picture on the same place as where the desert road is and the same semi transparant text block in the bottom. How do I get that there?
    Thank you.

I’m trying to add JavaScript to posts and its flowing below the posts vs the specific location on the page. I’ve tried adding to widgets and to main content and it still only goes below the footer on the page.

    Hi,

The theme uses URL matching to guess the icons to use for the social links, so if the links are empty or point to unrecognised URLs, they will use the default “link” icon.
You’ll have to configure your social profile URLs first, and maybe manually apply the required identifiers for any links that are not auto-matched (but are available in the theme).

    Hi,

Since upgrading to latest WordPress version 6.8.1, Continue reading buttons displayed differently. In a ‘Category page with intro’ templated page it is the same as before: https://portasecula.hu/category/termek/
However in a normal page with posts queried and listed, the button is missing and only the excerpt “Read more” link can be added to have the similar functionality. https://portasecula.hu/napfeny-mindig/

What can I do to fix this?

    Hi,

I received the following error message. Is this problem already known? How to fix it?

    Hi,

You can use any plugin that lets you filter/change the way posts are displayed on the standard blog homepage (the theme simply extends that WordPress feature so any query changes applied to the regular blog homepage will also apply in the theme’s landing page posts list).

I hope the problem has actually been resolved. I was very worried about the vulnerability. And I have no intention of changing my theme. Thank you.
