Using custom fonts for text settings

How can I insert custom fonts beside the embedded or Goggle ones?

In the FAQ, there is only the hint: “If you need any other fonts beside what the theme and Google Fonts offer, you’ll have to do it yourself by editing files or using plugins.”

    But this doesn’t really help.

Which files I has to edit and how?

    Thanks.

Plugins are both friends and enemies.

Using plugins may help for those who don’t have any knowledge about php, css etc. and want it to do easy.
My question was “Which files I has to edit and how?” because I want to look behind the curtain. I want to know how it works.

By the way I figured out by myself which files I have to edit and how.
