Yet another homescreen problem after disabling landing

On my site I have a general setup of pages 1 column + right side widget
But on my (static) homescreen I have selected a 3 column setup with a right and left widget.

This worked like a charm until ver 1.0.0 – which allways shows a 2 column setup with a right widget.

So now I have lost my left widget on the homescreen.

    Problem #2
My Header picture in Site Identity wasn’t transferred from v0.9 to 1.0 – but it is quite easy to reestablish.

Long live my backup which allowed me to reestablish my old v 0.9 theme in a different theme folder and select that folder for my theme

    Hope to see a solution

If you use a static page with a custom layout on your homepage, edit this page and set the new meta layout option to the desired value (and turn off the page template).

I see no reason for the header image to have been lost due to the update – WordPress saves this on a per-theme basis and the only thing to cause its loss would have required the theme to change its (folder) name.

Header images seems to be ok now with 1.4
But I still suffer from a frontpage that misses the left side widget as this page uses another template than the rest of the pages.

Standard template is a 2 column setup with a right widget – but my frontpage is 3 column with left and right widget – but I cannot display the left widget

It looks like a static WordPress homepage always uses the standard template – no matter which template is specified

After going thru the options again I found the Static Page options – solving my problem.
But now I have 2 places to specify template for the page which seems to be overkill – as I need the other one to specify the parent page

The new page meta options are the options which should be used now.
We’ll be removing the page templates in a future update.
