Cryout Creations mastermindYou’ve placed a search form in the before content widget area.
The search result page comes with its own form. So you’re seeing two forms. This is not a bug.Remove one of the forms; you’ll need to customize the search page file if you want to remove the form from search results.

Hi Craig, I thought I would just take this opttpouniry to say thanks for your free theme nice cleaner by default. You have modified it with the customer in mindso it clean and uncluttered, the product page and checkout page are a great improvement on the default skinOne thing i would ask, As I am selling only within Australia, I would like to remove the language and country drop downs from their position in the header and insert the search box. How can one accomplish that? ThanksJohn

Richard
I’d like to do the same thing. We’re not talking inside the individual post. There we have the comment box already.
We’re talking in the frontpage, where I e.g. show 10 posts per page. At the bottom of each of those posts I’d like a “Leave Comment” link.Otherwise, a user has to scroll back up again to leave a comment.
I use the Mantra theme (2.3.0 at the moment).
I tried to search for the code that creates the “Leave Comment” and “3 Comments”, but no success yet. Anyone know?

Ah, thanks, Zed. The site is great and it’s good to have that clarification.

Cryout Creations mastermindThe site title and tagline are WordPress options.
Hiding it is a theme option. And themes aren’t allowed to add/customize WordPress options.
So the only way to have them all is to have them in separate places…If you like our creations, help us share by rating them on WordPress.org.

Got it! Thank you again! I put text into the site title and tag lines, then went into parabola appearance – customize – then header settings and then set site header to empty. It would be more logical if they allowed you to hide the site header when you are setting the site title and tag lines.

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer Jim. I’m still trying to figure out how to hide the title and tag line in parabola. Any thoughts?

Hi Alison
I’ve just tried the above test, and the search box will only appear if you have no posts and have posts enabled on the presentation page. Once a post is created it goes.

Hi Alison
I’m just a user like yourself, I would suggest just create a test post and quickly enable posts on the presentation page and see what happens, then delete the test post etc.
I saw something about getting a dash on the tab and I think the solution in this post should help you out.

Hi Jim. Thanks for that. When I disabled the “Show Posts on Presentation Page, it went away, but the weird thing is I don’t have any posts. Also, does that mean when I do create a post, I won’t be able to have it on the presentation page without that weird search box being there also?
And as far as the tab, I mean the tab above the address bar, that names the page you have open. It only shows what looks like a piece of paper (page) and a line (-), but no words.
November 14th, 2013 at 17:31 #13624Jim
Hi Alison
Just another thought, it could be because you have “Show Posts on Presentation Page” enabled within the Presentation Page settings, perhaps try disabling that.
Cheers

Hi Alison
1.At a guess Id think you have something in one of the Extra Text fields that are at the bottom of the Presentation Page settings in Parabola. Perhaps ensure they are all blanked out?
2.Not sure I understood what “Why isn’t there any text on the tab for the presentation page?” meant.
3.There are two Extra Text boxes that can be used for additional text on the presentation page.
I hope this helps

I really like the theme but I would like to change the refine search on the category pages to display 5 thumbs instead of 4.
Thank you

I would very much like to have sidebar widgets on the presentation page. It’s awkward to expect people to follow or email subscribe if they must scroll to the footer area. It would be much more convenient to have various search parameters on the presentation page to help people find specific topics and posts. Please consider this is future updates.

Jim
Hi Liz
Sorry I think I fed you some wrong information. The easiest thing to do with the slider border is to set its colour to transparent. You can do this within Parabola Settings > Color Settings > Presentation Page the just leave the field for Slider Border Color empty. I’ll do some more research and get back to you about the column borders.
I hope this helps

Zed
Cryout Creations mastermindHi.
1. Is the space for the right sidebar there? (you should at least get a blank space in the right side of the content)
Are you using any page templates? These can override the layout settings (in fact this is exactly what they’re made for)
2. There’s no built-in option for that, but someone else posted a way of doing this on the forum. I don’t have the link right now but it should come up in a search.

Ah, I didn’t realize that. So if I want to set up for search engines identifying a local demographic I’d have to repeat repeatedly the names of the towns and states where we are referencing?
Thanks,

ok i think i found it and it works as it appears at least (i hope i didn’t mess anything, please verify if you’d like)
what i did is:
went to editor, at theme-frontpage.php
and searched “specific”, found “case ‘Specific Posts’ :”and there on the line that says:
<a href="<?php the_permalink(); ?>"><img src="<?php echo $image[0]; ?>" alt="" title="#caption<?php echo $i;?>" /></a>
i did it:
<img src="<?php echo $image[0]; ?>" alt="" />
is it ok for the two things i wanted? or should i change anything else somewhere else also?
thanks again for your feedback. all the best!July 26th, 2013 at 20:30 #9831In reply to: How to add SEO tags to static pages

Cryout Creations mastermindIf by “tags” you mean “keywords”, there is no such option in Mantra (since keywords are kind of obsolete for most search engines nowadays).
If you want to use them anyway, I recommend installing a SEO plugin.

Thanks for the suggestion. I just tried to put a sticky post. The problem with that is that it only displayed the hyperlinked text as hyperlinks when you click on the post itself. I really need to create a short bit of text which links to my main site at the top of my blog. I need this because my blog is outranking my site for a key search term and my blog is not currently a good landing page. The before content widget sounds good, any idea when it will be ready? I do need a solution now though.

Cryout Creations mastermindIt’s possible but you’d have to use a plugin for that. Search the WordPress plugins repository for one.
Good luck!

Zed
Cryout Creations mastermindHopefully you’ve received the replies I wrote today, but if not, I’m copying them here as well (as there’s no private information in them):
The search bar question:
That is the default WordPress “search page”. As you can see even in their demo, http://twentyelevendemo.wordpress.com/?s=search&submit=Search the big search bar in the middle of the page is right there.
If you don’t like that, you can remove the form from inside mantra/search.php.
Just delete or comment out get_search_form();Just remember a child theme would be better to implement your customizations as you will not lose them in updates.
And the other question(s):
I see no pending outgoing emails so our emails must be blocked by your email server. Your server doesn’t like our host/ip 🙁
And no, you don’t have to donate each time you have a question to ask. Just use the same transaction id, or reference your previous ticket number (so we can find that easily), or just write that you previously donated but don’t remember any numbers (and we’ll do the searching instead) 🙂
PS: I recommend reading question C11 in the FAQs on how to properly hide the site title without leaving a stray dash in the browser title…
