  1. Hi, tried to include inpyte type form elements in “Text Area 3” of the presentation page but Nirvana filters them out. When I save the settings, they disappear. textarea elements will remain, but not text type inputs. Is there a fix for that?

    My slideshow on the homepage hasn’t been showing my posts excerpts for a while.
    It was working before but I do not understand why it has changed (I did not realize the exact time but I think it happened when I changed the width of the site).
    Could you help me?

  7. Hello! I use the nirvana theme on my website ans I`ve just wrote a text in the nirvana-settings-presentation page-text 1. I wrote it with paragraphs but when I go to my website the text is showed without any! Can anyone give me a hand that issue?? Thanks!

      1. That section of answers will arrive when the theme reaches version 1.0. But the theme is responsive anyway, even without that answer (did you check the demos on a mobile device?)

  12. I am trying to change the padding. When I inspect element this is what I get
    #pp-texttop,
    #pp-textmiddle,
    #pp-textbottom,
    #front-columns-box,
    #content {
    display:block;
    float:none;
    clear:both;
    padding: 75px 0;
    }
    I don’t want the padding to be 75px, but when I try to change CSS in wordpress, nothing happens.

  14. Issues with google font settings:

    1. After updating to the newest release all text settings of the Nirvana Theme settings section “Text” are not working anymore. I used the second tab of the font setting panel to put the name of a google font.
    E.g. I used “Merriweather:300” and it worked without any problems. Now I can enter whatever I want in this tab, it doesn´t work.
    I already cleared the cache and tried it several times with different browsers.
    Before the update it worked without any problems.

    2. The extended character set (e.g. the german characters ä,ö,ü) of the font Oswald still doesn´t work. The special characters won´t be shown correctly. Before I solved the problem: instead of choosing Oswald from the Theme font setting tab, I used the custom tab (the second one on the right) of Text settings and it worked fine.

    Unfortunately I can´t give you a link to my page, because I still have a local installation.
    I appreciate any help you can offer.

  15. I cannot figure out how to use a Google font with this theme. Can someone tell me exactly what to type in the Google Font field on the settings page? My client would like to use the font Rye for their headings. Nothing I’ve tried works.

    1. From the URL provided by Google use everything following family= (the bold part):
      http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Exo+2:400&subset=latin,latin-ext
      If you’re using subsets, wait for the next update as this one has an issue with merging multiple fonts using subsets.

  17. Hello, thanks for this theme! I’m afraid I’m having trouble with image alignment in the Text Box 1 section on the Presentation Page. This might just be an HTML issue, but any help would be much appreciated.

    1. Presentation page fields don’t inherit any of the default post/page content styling; this is intended as to give you full control over the layout of the content you chose to add there.

  19. I left a message in the Bugs page (actually a follow-up to someone else’s similar issue), but figured I would follow up here. Theme: Nirvana. Cannot get the slider to show up on the presentation page nor can I see the 3 Presentation Page Columns. I have enabled the slider and uploaded images to the exact size indicated in the theme settings. Also dragged over the [Cryout Column] widgets into the presentation page column widget area.

    Please advise. I really like this theme (and I have kept your info in the footer!). Thanks.

  20. thanks for a great theme. I have the presentation page as my homepage by selecting “your latest posts” as the static front page; however, when viewing my website from a mobile device, the blog listing comes up instead of the presentation page. Can you advise please?

  21. Hi Zed. My question is: in the presentation page, what are the dimensions for the pictures you use in the Custom Slides? I need to add my own and it’s becoming a pain figuring out what dimensions should I use for my photos.

    1. The dimensions are exactly those specified in the theme’s settings page, Appearance > Nirvana Settings > Presentation Page > Columns. The height is directly configurable, while the width depends on the general site width and the number of columns per row, so it is not directly configurable, but is displayed clearly.

  22. Hi, I’m having trouble configuring the Top Bar on Nirvana theme. I’d like to have my search widget there, as well as a custom menu. How do I do that?
    I have top bar enabled, and the social icons show up fine. I was expecting to see an area for Top Bar on the widgets page. Maybe its coming soon?
    By the way … love the columns feature!

    1. dang, i hate it when i figure out the answer to my own question right after i post it. not enough coffee this morning 🙂
      for the other caffeine deficient folks out there: just create a new menu (i called mine Top Menu) and add it to the top bar. the search button shows up too. easy peasy.

  23. What a flexible theme Nirvana is! I have one problem: my columns on the presentation page “jiggle” on mouseover. When the cursor is not over a column (or just after loading), it is not perpendicular to the banner. They display at odd angles and only line up if the cursor is over them (only one at a time). They don’t look like the demo. I find this exceedingly odd and can’t find a setting in the presentation page settings to suppress this movement and skewed alignment. I am using three specific numbered posts in my columns with photos enabled. I left the spacing between them at the default.

    1. Addendum: I just checked now, and one of the three columns is fixed; two are not. This happened before, but then #3 went jiggly, too. I don’t know if I’ll have switched to another theme before someone can take a peek, but just in case, I’m at http://www.dianadiehlpresents.com (I can’t leave it this way; I just came back from a conference and gave out dozens of business cards!)

  24. Hi Tina,

    Your issue is not theme related. Inserting a shortcode from a plugin has really nothing to do with the theme you’re using. Please read the instructions for the plugin that you’re using https://wordpress.org/plugins/smart-slider-2/ It even has a step-by-step video that shows how to insert the shortcode.

    You don’t insert the shortcode inside files, you insert it inside the pages you created within WordPress. The plugin you mentioned even has a button in the Editor just to make things easy.

    Please document yourself better in the future. It will save you a lot of time in the long run.

  25. Thanks for your great work on the theme. I really like using it but am having a little trouble with my Category pages. I have set all the Post Excerpt Settings to excerpt and have an excerpt on my Home/Presentation page but on my Category pages it comes up with just the post title and featured image. Is there a different way to get a post excerpt on the category page or is it not possible?

    I posted a question on the Nirvana forum in WordPress but thought I would contact you here as well. I am about to move away from Nirvana but if I could fixthis problem I would gladly pay for the theme.

    Here Goes….

    I love the Nirvana theme but even though the Presentation Page has a lot of options it doesn’t allow me to have a simple slider with a main-content section below and a right sidebar (a basic layout in other words).

    I have created a child theme and downloaded another slider plugin (Smart Slider 2) but I don’t know where to add the short-code I get from the new slider plugin in order to have the slider appear just below the nav-bar. I have tried putting it in the child-theme functions.php file and also created a frontpage.php file and put the code in that but neither worked correctly.

    The shortcode is

    Can anyone help please?

    My site is at moc.edifyclients.com at present.and I am using WP 4.0

  29. Hi, I changed my fonts in the text settings to a Google font (Andika) for the general text and widget text and Lucida Casual for the headings. It displays all fine as long as I do nothing else in the settings, but the heading fonts reset automatically to general font, so every time I change something in the settings, I have to change my heading fonts again. Strangely, the text fonts are not affected by this. How can I fix this?

      1. I’m using Andika (a Google font) for the general and widget text, and Lucida Casual (listed under Cursive in the General Fonts menu) for all headings. Andika remains saved, just Lucida Casual resets to default in the settings. However, it only affects my blog the next time I save the settings. It’s really strange.
        I’ll gladly provide screen shots if you tell me how to attach them to this comment. Pasting them in this form doesn’t want to work, and I don’t see any option for attaching a file…
        Do you need screen shots of the settings, the blog, or both?

          1. Dear Zed, I am afraid I have the same issues like Bettina Berlin. I set all fonts to Verdana but as soon as I change something else, all font are back to the pre-settings. Do you have any hint for me?
