When I update a site to PHP 8.0 or above the site stops responding and I get an error. Any thoughts on how to fix this? PHP 7.4 works. The error page is not much help… It states There has been a critical error on this website.

and there is not much on PHP except PHP errors or MySQL DB errors but not much to go on there.
Thanks for your prompt response, Zed! I was just going to update that I fixed it by re-installing the classic widgets plug-in and using that to manipulate / fix my widgets. Still some problems, mainly from custom html generated by Amazon, but working through it. I am trying to go all Guttenberg all the time, but oh well.
I agree. I am struggling with something which I think is Block Editor related. I can’t effectively manage some of the custom html widgets. I get an error of “There was an error. The response is not a valid JSON response.” when I try to delete a widget. I love Mantra and want to keep using it. https://bedard.com is my site. Thanks.
Hi! Are the errors still present if you temporarily switch to one of the default Twenty themes and attempt to perform the same changes?
I’ve been using Mantra for years and it’s a beautiful, fast theme. Sure, I’ve tried others for a few hours, just to see, but I always return to Mantra. It’s simple and speedy, and that’s what Google likes and that’s what my visitors like, too.
