I have an event site with a fair amount of images uploaded by users in March of each year. The upload process is creating duplications in various sizes. I understand why this is and I have changed the WordPress media settings to only make one thumbnail duplicate and ignore the medium and large sizes. However, my uploads are still showing duplications of 5 or more and sometimes up to 9 dupes for larger uploads. I am assuming this a theme setting. How can I change this as it is really piling up. I am using a Tempera child theme and I do have access to the files.

Beside WordPress’ own sizes (large, medium and thumbnail) and the original, the theme adds 3 extra image sizes (featured image – as configured in the settings, slider, and header) to create crops for.
These get used on certain theme configurations (if you use posts to generate your slider or enable using the featured image in the header).
