Remove border from top image like in demo

    Hi,
I would like to feature an image at the top of my home page in the same way as the demo: http://demos.cryoutcreations.eu/wordpress/verbosa/. I’m referring to the demo image of the hands, bowl and cup, which has no border. On my site, the image in this position is appearing with a large and unattractive white-ish border. How can I get rid of it? I’v got a slider plugin there, but the border is still there if I swap out the slider for a still image. Is there a setting I’ve missed, or does the CSS need to be fixed? Can you tell me how to do it please?
I know that a white border is the least of the world’s worries just now, but still your help would be much appreciated. Thank you!

The demo setup uses the theme’s landing page static slider functionality in that location, however I am not able to see anything on your site at this moment (I just get a placeholder nothing found page) to check if you’re actually using the landing page feature.

Thanks for looking Zed. Apologies for the link – corrected below.
I changed my homepage to the static version and as you say, the borders are gone. But they are still there on the other pages and I would still like to get rid of them.
Also, why are the posts appearing in one half-width column (laptop view) when I have ticked the 2-column structure under the appearances tab?
If I can ask a third thing – is there a way of removing the white box that says ‘categories’ on category pages? I’ve ticked ‘hide category titles’ but that doesn’t do it.

Unfortunately, the new URL does not appear to work at this time so I cannot check it to answer your first two questions.

Concerning categories, that option is not currently working correctly but is fixed for the next theme update.
