The font size of my captions are the same as the body text making it difficult for readers to distinguish the two. How can I change the font size of my captions please? Thanks!

The image block captions do not use specific styling to make them appear different.

If you want, you can use custom CSS to customize their appearance, for example:

.wp-block-image figcaption {
    font-style: italic;
    font-size: 0.9em;
}
