  1. Hi Zed,

    First off – Amazing theme. Thanks!

    Now, Is there any way to have a second (or third, etc.) page that uses the same (or similar) layout as the presentation page? Our website is kind of like this:
    First, pick option 1, 2 or 3 (on the presentation page)
    Then on the next page, pick option a, b or c (a regular post page that has 3 options like on the presentation page)

    Basically, we’d like to have each of the 3 options on the presentation page bring you to another page with 2-3 options to choose from. It would be pretty much just like the presentation page, just without the slider.

    Tried copy/pasting the CSS as best I could, but of course it’s copying the data from the presentation template, and everything is skewed. Can you put together an additional “Page Template” option for something like “One column, no sidebar, 3 options” that mimics the layout/functionality of the presentation page? Or can you provide the CSS to make a new page template to do this?

    Thanks!

  2. Hi Zed, first up, well done and thank you. For ease of use, functionality and style you lead the way. Thanks. Am trying to configure homepage columns ton carry some basic html or iframes (Facebook and Twitter wdgets). Any suggestions?

    1. Some HTML is accepted in the column texts, but more complex HTML is filtered out by WordPress (this is a request for the theme to receive approval).
      You’ll need to use the Text widget to place unfiltered HTML in the columns.

  3. I apologize if this has been asked before. The theme is fantastic – and – we’ve been using it for http://www.prballet.org. One weird thing that happens – all opens ok in browser and on ipad – but – the presentation page does NOT open on an iphone. It goes immediately to the posts.

    Is there a “mobile” setting that I might have messed up? Could a mobile plug-in (or Jetpack) be messing that up?

    Please advise.

  4. Hi,

    The primary menu in Parabola disappears completely when the website is viewed on a cell phone. The relativity setting is on and the rest of the website looks great. Well, at least the presentation page looks great on the cell phone, I cannot access other pages because there is no menu…

    I’m working with the RTL settings.
    You can see the website at: levia.co.il

    Is there a way to make it show?

    Thanks
    B.

    1. It seems you’ve found a bug in the theme that affects RTL layout. Using this bit of CSS in the theme’s Custom CSS field will correct it for now:
      #nav-toggle span:before {
      display: block;
      }

      1. Thank you, it works.

        If we’re talking…
        In the RTL layout both Parabola and Tempera – the main menu is aligned left.
        I fixed it by changing the position to minus number of pixels to the right:
        #access {
        display: block;
        float: right;
        clear: both;
        width: 100%;
        margin: -18px -37px auto 0;
        }
        But now with the fix you gave me for Parabola, the menu items are cut from the right side when displayed in celluar display, probably by -37 pixels.

        Is there a solution for that?

        1. The menu remains left aligned as there’s an option for the menu alignment in the settings. It would be counter-intuitive to make this option work backwards when RTL is used. You can simply right-align the menu by setting it so in that option.
          I’ve noted down the wrong columns alignment.

  5. Dear developer, your work is the best I’ve seen in the field of WordPress themes. Topic Nirvana works fine. But there is a problem in the theme of the Parabola with jquery. The theme was installed but “Parabolla Settings” does not work. I get an error: “Checking jQuery functionality…
    If this message remains visible after the page has loaded then there is a problem with your WordPress jQuery library. This can have several causes, including incompatible plugins. The Parabola Settings page cannot function without jQuery.” How to fix the problem and attach jquery to Parabolla Settings work?

  6. Checking jQuery functionality…
    If this message remains visible after the page has loaded then there is a problem with your WordPress jQuery library. This can have several causes, including incompatible plugins. The Parabola Settings page cannot function without jQuery.

    How can i fix this?….

  7. When I hover mouse on Presentation page column image, it turns transparent white, something due to opacity settings. How can I change like it should not white out on hover and also how can I keep the title always visible on the column images?

  8. Dear Parabola Team,

    I am trying to enable the theme to work with Farsi text meaning right to left writing however I am not seeing where I can activate this feature and currently when I insert farsi text the punctuation gets all twisted.

  9. Dear Zed,
    I am wondering why some of my posts are missing from Presentation Page (Parabola theme). I saw that at least one of post is missing, and then counted them – total of 11 posts, while only 10 to be visible on Presentation page. I would like to know how to enable option, which will show something like Next Posts at the bottom, to go to another 10 of posts. Is it even possible using Parabola?
    Best regards.

  10. Is there any way to put a video in the presentation screen? I’ve tried putting the youtube link in the 4 areas available for custom slides and the video won’t show

  11. Hi, recently converted to using your theme, and am loving the visual upgrade it’s given my site. Now, so far as I can tell there’s no capacity for doing this at the moment, and that’s cool, but I’d like to request a feature for future versions: it would be awesome if you could have any number of possible columns in the presentation, and have them selected randomly each time the front page loads.

    Even if you never do introduce this feature, I’ll still be using Parabola, so thank you 🙂

  12. Hi! I’m using parabola settings and I just enabled the show posts on presentation page. However it’s currently showing all my current posts on that page and therefore really slowing down my sites load time. Is there a way to limit the amount of posts displayed? Say to maybe 6 or 10?

  13. Thanks for Parabola – it’s proving really great for our site. However, I have a particular problem. Because the presentation page slider uses the full text of the post, rather than the excerpt, on posts that have a YouTube embed, this appears as an overlay on the featured image, half-cropped by the slider box (i.e. it doesn’t look great)… what’s the best way to stop this happening? Is there a way to force the slider to use the excerpt text instead?

  14. Hi, first time building a wordpress site and loving the depth and versatility of Parabola.

    I’m trying to ensure my YouTube embeds stay a certain size. I notice when I load the page, it appears- briefly- at the right size then when it loads it takes the full width of the post.

    I tried searching for the answer here, but only found a reference to a fix in 1.2.0 but not what the short code should be. Even if you don’t answer, thanks again for your great theme, I’ve already suggested it to several friends.

    1. Figured it out: Have to click on the “Embed” tab while on YouTube and use the provided iframe (or older version) code to drop directly into the text view of your WordPress post… can’t simply rely on dropping the link alone into the post (it will still convert to an embedded video, but without size formatting).

  15. This isn’t a question but I couldn’t find a place to say this: such a fabulous theme! If only ALL WordPress themes were as well-designed and easy to personalise in so many ways. Absolutely outstanding — the best WP theme I’ve ever seen by quite a long way.

  16. Hey Zed,
    Loving the theme!
    I do have one question though. I set the theme as my “Home” page (so it’s not static right now) but then how do I add plugins into it?
    When I go to pages in wordpress it isn’t there for me to add Plugins like I normal coukd – specifically the “music store” plugin.

    Thanks alot for your help.
    -Jovan

    1. I figured out I can add a Shortcode to the optional text box that appears below the 3 columns I have, but I would like to have that above the collums and below the picture slider thing. Would this at all be possible?
      I feel like it would just be cutting and pasting code order, but I don’t know which ones 🙁

    2. You can’t add plugins to a page. The most you can do is add widgets (supplied by plugins) to widget areas (such as the ones in sidebars or footer). And widgets are administered through Appearance > Widgets.
      However, pages don’t support widget integration, but you can display widgets nonetheless if they also come via shortcodes (which you can place inside the page’s content, and our themes support shortcodes almost everywhere).

      1. Thank you, I ended up making it work.
        Now please, I am trying to figure out – is there ANYWAY to the set parabola to be a static front page (instead of latest post) and still get the design with the 3 columns, slider, and etc ?
        Because now when I make a menu I have no Home 🙁

  17. Is there a way to change ONLY the social media icon colors… I would like them to match (blue for facebook, red for pinterest and youtube… so on) I don’t want to have to re write all the CSS for my site tho…

    1. You can use CSS to change the icon’s background color (the glyph is an image and is stuck to white):
      .socials .socialicons.social-Facebook { background: #0011aa; }
      .socials .socialicons.social-YouTube { ... }
      .socials .socialicons.social-LinkedIn { ... }
      .socials .socialicons.social-Pinterest { ... }

  18. I have this theme installed and my problem seems to be the lack of a comment box on posts altogether. I have all the proper options checked/uncheck in WP dashboard Discussion settings. Any remedy?

    GORGEOUS theme btw. Thank you.

    1. I’m here on a separate issue but since i figured this one out the other day thought i’d help you out…

      if you go to appearance -> Parabola Settings –> Color settings,

      I believe the color you are wanting to change is in the CONTENT row.

      Also, If you hover with your mouse over the colored number boxes, a text pop up will show you exactly what each box color goes to.

  19. Hey! First of all, I just want to say that I LOVE this theme, especially because it is so flexible and customizable.

    I do have one question; is there a way to customize the colors of things like the social media buttons so they are different colors from each other? For example, having the facebook button blue, and the pinterest one red. Or, having the different page links different colors. How would I do that?

    Thanks again for an awesome theme!

    1. The options are pretty much laid out in the same way. The main difference between Mantra and the latter themes is how much space they take up (the newer themes having even more options than Mantra meant they needed to occupy less space to keep the settings page usable)
