It seems that I have introduced an error into my Tempera installation that I cannot resolve. The presentation page at SCRUFF Cats has three widgets displaying in the Presentation Page Columns. On all the other pages of the site one of the widgets (which displays the News category posts) shows below the main content of the page. That widget showing those posts should not be on those sub pages.
At Dashboard > Appearance > Widgets > Presentation Page Columns we see some confusion. It is hard to describe. From top to bottom we have the News widget, Feral Cats widget, Volunteer widget, and then News again! The top News and Feral Cats appear to be grouped, so I have attempted to ungroup them. The same is true with the other widgets, as they may or may not be grouped, in columns, or … whatever.
The News widget at the bottom of the list is totally untouchable and cannot be changed, selected, deleted, or otherwise manipulated.
If I manage to make any changes to the items in the Presentation Page Columns zone I cannot Update as the button seems to be inactive. If I try to leave the Widgets screen WordPress asks if I really want to do that because it understands that nothing has been changed and then Updated or saved.
I believe that in working on the widgets I created a mass of confusion and introduced errors, but I do not know how to revert the widget setup to the original, or acceptable, state.
I have tried the usual testing procedures swapping themes, turning plugins on and off, etc. The error is “localized” to the theme we are using.
Any help will be very much appreciated.

Thank you for the tip! That might work. I shall try it and report back in a day or so.
