I have these warnings in Design/Customizer. You got the login for the website.
And I don’t get ANY answer from you since 11 days!

Was there an answer to this because I’m getting the same error..

    #131015

No answer, i am deeply disappointed!!!

i have the problem since nearly 3 month. As I pay for themes and support I first contacted per email. As I got no answer since April! So I wrote it here, but still no answer… Damn it!!!

I started getting a similar error on another site I own using another Cryout theme (Septera Plus). When trying to access the customizer… I was being told by the website that there was a server error and that the admin has been sent an email. I checked my email and I did receive an email with a link to the same errored page that created it. No solution, but an acknowledgement I have an issue with the website. I have a third website using Septera Plus but that site isn’t experiencing any issues. I figured there must be something else going on besides just the theme I’m using… however, I’m not having any issues when switching and using a default theme. I filed a support ticket with Cryout and I received an immediate reply that has solved my problem.

I was assured they are aware of the issue with the customizer.. but working on a synced fix with all the code sets they use can be a challenge. In the interim, they suggested I check to make sure I don’t have any categories that do not have any posts associated. Sure enough… I had one category I just created and there weren’t any posts yet. I created a sample post under that category and my word press customizer became accessible again.

This solves my problem for Kahuna Plus and any other Cryout theme I’m using. This was the difference between the two websites both installed with Septera Plus. One had posts for all the categories and one website had 0 posts listed for one of my categories. Once I created a sample post I could access the customizer.

I have been told they are aware of the problem and are working on a fix. I hope some of this information helps you.

Just a quick addition to the above solution. I had to create a sample post for the default “uncategorized” category as well… so there is at least one post there.

Thanks, it helped a bit! At least I have access again to “Design/Curtomizer”.

There is still a warning in the visual view, but I can do things there. Before the post, I didn’t have any access there.

    This still shows up:

I’ve just noticed I get a similar error. If I search my site, and a blog post without a Featured Image is found, this error comes up:

Warning: Trying to access array offset on value of type null in /[path-to-wp-removed]/wp-content/themes/kahuna/includes/loop.php on line 295

I’ve found that the server is running PHP 8.1, and if I change it to 7.4 then the error goes away.

I think this is because in PHP 7 if you try to get the contents of an empty (or non-existent, perhaps) array you get a response of “null”, whereas in PHP 8 you get *nothing*, and so an error. Willing to bet your errors are for the same reason, and if you can change your server to PHP 7.4 it’ll fix it for now until Kahuna gets updated to work with PHP 8+ fully.

@Brigitte: I too have sent them a message since I pay for theme & support and also have received no reply. I am starting to worry what is going on.

I did notice that Zed updated the Kahuna them on Oct 31, but there has been no reply to my question I sent in early Nov.

It sounds like the team has a lot going on.

    @deKay
: Thank you for the PHP info! I was going to upgrade the PHP on our VPS, but it sounds like I should hold off until we hear something definitive from the Cryout Creations team.

    Hi everyone,

Last month’s Kahuna update addressed compatibility with PHP 8+ so those warnings/notices are no longer a problem.

The only themes remaining to receive the same updates (and on which PHP 8 could be problematic – depending on server configuration) are currently Anima and Septera.

@zed Seems this is still an issue, for Kahuna at least. I’ve held off PHP 8 but no longer can as my host won’t support PHP 7 any more.

@deKay, your issue is different and looks to be caused by the theme failing to retrieve in-content images to use a featured images from your posts.
This happens because the function checking for such images is told by WordPress that the posts have images attached (inserted in) to them when in fact they don’t appear to (maybe they had them in the past?).

We’ll add some extra logic checks in the next update to not trust WordPress’ returned data blindly and to avoid this condition.
