Replacing Nirvana images with my own custom images

    Hi,

I really need help with the following:

    1) Adding additional social icons – I did exactly as instructed by Cryout Creations to replace the Nirvana social icons but I am only seeing 5 of my social icons on my site out of the 9 that I added. The 5 that are showing up are the ones that didn’t need to be added to the CSS as I was just replacing the images. The missing 4 are the ones that I added to the CSS array: 2 out of these 4 socials I have renamed exactly the same as in the parent theme (ie. ‘Etsy’,’RSS’,) but there are no original social icons for the other 2 (ie. ‘Bloglovin’’, ‘Snapchat’). Does this mean I can’t use these 2 icons? If I can, then what else do I need to do to make these 4 social icons appear on my site? If I can’t, then why aren’t the ‘Etsy’ and ‘RSS’ icons showing up? Is there a limit of 5 social media accounts or is it unlimited?

    2) I can’t figure out how to replace the images in the Jetpack plugin (ie share on ___, follow on ____). Has anyone done this successfully? All I can find online are instructions on how to modify the look of the buttons but not how to replace them with your own images. Can you advise where to save my images in my cpanel and what css I need to add to replace them? I’ve searched Jetpack’s website and forum and can’t find anything so I’m not sure what to do next.

    3) How do I replace the Nirvana images with my own images (jpeg or png) for the search, new posts, old posts, scroll to top, featured, follow, categories, likes, navigation and subscribe buttons?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out! I really appreciate it! My website is still in the design stages so you can’t see anything with the URL but I can add someone as a temporary admin if you need to see what I’m talking about. Julie

Can someone please help me with this? I posted this on Jan 23rd and have had zero responses.

    1) I did my best to answer this question in your previous forum topic.

    2) You’d get a better answer on this if you ask in the Jetpack forums.

    3) This question is beyond the support we can provide via the forum. Replacing the built-in images and icons would require extensive changes to the theme code.

    1) I found the answer to this question on another site. It confirmed 5 social accounts is all that the Nirvana theme supports. That’s all I was asking and I’m confused as to why you couldn’t just tell me that.
    2) I have emailed Jetpack tech support and they can’t help as they say the social icons aren’t images but “Genericon” font. I have no clue what that is. I have checked the Jetpack forum and there is nothing there about this but I will post my own support request there.
    3) OK, thanks. That’s what I was afraid of.

Thanks for getting back to me.

    1) I thought you wanted to add extra social networks (beyond the ones already available in the theme) – this is what I remember the previous discussion was about. I wasn’t aware you wanted to display more than the theme’s maximum 5 simultaneous social icons.

For this task you can disable the theme’s social icons and switch to using a plugin.

    2) Genericons is an icon font – meaning the icons themselves are not images but rather characters (letters) in a dedicated font. To replace them you’d need to create your own font and use it on the site for specific elements.

    Hi Zed,

    1) Sorry for the misunderstanding.
    2) I will look into alternate plugins.

    Thanks for the info.
