HTTPS Access

I recently used your Tempera Theme to recreate our company website as a WordPress Site. The theme is great for us! I need to add pages that are not only “Member-restricted” but require https for data security. One post I found (http://www.wpwhitesecurity.com/wordpress-security/definitive-guide-wordpress-ssl-setup/#wpsslpage) indicated that this could be done by adding a function to the “functions.php” file of the theme. That file in Tempera makes it quite plain that it is not intended to be user-edited. How, then, ought I to specify https on a page-by-page basis (I don’t want to force it for all pages to keep from bogging things down)? I am decent at general programming, but I am NOT a PHP-experienced programmer, but I can handle short scripts, if it’s clear where to put them. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
