What are the basic steps to get the slider setup on the home page?

I have messed around with the slider and uploaded some picture into it, but i cant seem to find out how to enable it to work on a page.

some basic steps would really help!

Looks like i switched over this theme from another and it didnt allow the slider, becasue the slider is working on another site i am creating from scratch.

How do i get the slider back on the page? Do i have to delete eveything on my wordpress/dashboard and start fresh or is there a way to add the slider/ take it off?

and yes i have it enabled.
