Headings missing on published page

    I am trying to create our website using WordPress and the Codex theme.
    When writing up the pages in the visual editor, the headings and the text formatted as headings (<h1>, <h2>, <h3>) show, but when publishing the page, they disappear from the page, both formatting and text. See http://staaopp.no/wordpress/?page_id=214 for an example.

    When looking at the source code of the published page, the heading code is still there, but the text as well as the html formatting is gone. Am I missing some setting that needs to be enabled? Or is there a bug in the installation? I have tried reinstalling the theme. I have dried in both browsers Chrome and Edge, but it is missing both places.

    PLease help.

    Which editor are using to enter the content in WordPress (the new block editor, the alternative source editor, the classic visual editor)?

    I also have this issue with the same headings. I can’t publish until this is fixed. Is there anyone following up on this?

    @Zed
    I’ve tried what WordPress now calls the visual editor, but really is the block based visual editor.
    Might that be the reason for the problem?

    @paulandreas, could you please check what value the headings font size option is set to on your site?

    @zed where/how do we check the value in the visual editor? There are multiple people with this issue since December of 2019. Is there a setting that we are not aware of for using headers and font sizes?

    When choosing a block –> header; there is no option to change the font size. Please let us know how to proceed for editing.

    We’ve tracked down the problem to a default value that’s on the wrong scale of things (using 1 for em instead of 100 for percentage).

    In my previous answer I linked to the theme option that controls the headings root size. You can adjust this value from the options back to 100% to restore the headings (or even adjust it further depending on your specific side needs).

    Thank you all for pointing out this issue.

    Thank you @Zed, that fixed it.
    Under Typography/Content fonts, Headings was, like you said, for some reason set to 1 %. Turning it up to 100 % made the headings visible.

    Thanks again.

    Glad my problems could lead to the solution for others as well 🙂
