    Hi,

    The Category: text is actually part of WordPress’ strings (it’s returned by a core function call), so you’ll need to search for it in WordPress’ translations, not the theme’s.

    Ta-da! I got rid of Loco Translate and installed the plugin “Hide archive label”. Selected “Category” in the plugin settings, and Viola! The “Category:” part of the page title is gone now!

    Much simpler solution.

    I saw where support had recommended using Loco Translate to get rid of the “Category:” in the page title. I cannot get it to work.

    Following the instructions on the linked page, https://www.cryoutcreations.eu/wordpress-tutorials/editing-theme-strings-translations, I go to Themes, choose Roseta, New Language, English. I do a search on “category:, but I do not pull up a string “Category: %s” like in the support screenshot. Only: Page/Category Titles … Display Category …
    Archive for category “%s”.

    The support screenshot shows a “WordPress Core / Development” window. I am on “Themes / Roseta”, per the instructions on the linked page for using Loco to fix the problem.

    I see that I can disregard instructions and go to WordPress instead of Themes. Here I get the Missing Template message. I am loathe to do anything in WordPress Core without explicit instructions. What should I do?

    Thank you, Vicki

    Dear Cryout team,

    after the latest 1.6.2-update font management on presentation page functions and looks perfectly well! – Thanks a lot for that!

    Especially I appreciate the restored spacing between post excerpts and the »read more« buttons, which gives the post-preview-section on presentation page a »generous« and airy look. – Very nice again!

    On blog-page, tag- and category-pages (with or without intro) instead, there’s a different post-preview-layout with no spacing between post excerpts and the following »read more« button at all.

    Blog: https://www.sprachblasen.de/blog/
    Tag: https://www.sprachblasen.de/schlagwort/schoenheit/
    Category: https://www.sprachblasen.de/thema/dinge-des-lebens/
    Category/Intro: https://www.sprachblasen.de/logozentrik/

    Would you consider a unified post-preview-layout for all types of pages in a future update? Or could there be a spacing adjustment via custom CSS for all instances of »read more« bottons (or post excerpts respectively)?

    But, as you can see, this is not at all of any urgency 😉.

    Thanks, greetings and regards
    Chrissi

    I have search on forum with the word “category:” and found almost 12 results here but @zed you did not gave the solution of this problem, where as you are reffering all members to a tutorial here. Why not you giving the direct css code to modify and get rid from this issue…????

    I have loaded the plug in but cannot find the correct text for the pretitle-meta > Category:

    What do you think I should be searching for?
    Thank you

    Hi,

    You have custom CSS on the site that disables pointer events on article titles from the news category:

    I followed the tutorial linked above using the Loco plugin and it did not work to remove the “Category:”

    This is the location where I was editing:
    Themes/ Roseta Plus/ Framework/ cryout-en_US.po
    Is that the right place?

    @Zed
    , in your screenshot above the location is WordPress Core.

    Dear all,

    I’m doing a job and have a doubt that I would like to share with you looking for some help.

    I have to remove the “pretitle” so that the titles only show the “title” and not the “category: title” or “archive: title”.

    I have tried several solutions and so far cannot resolve this issue. I wonder if anyone has any information to help me.

    Thanks!

    In reply to: Category title

    So I tried the translation thing and it didn’t seem to get rid of the “Category:” part of my title pages.
    Ideally, for my site (jac.land) I’d like to have a category for Projects, where my articles about the projects I’m working on go, and a category for Travel, where my articles about Travel go.

    However, it’s looking like it’s not possible to remove the “Category:” part of each title page. So they say “Category: Travel” “Category: Projects”. I’d like to keep “Projects” and “Travel” only.

    I’m probably spelling this out too much for people who do this for a living, but I’m totally inept at building sites, so I just want to make sure I’m saying exactly what I mean.

    Anyway, bless you if you’ve read this whole thing. But can anyone help with a solution?

    You can remove the ‘Category:’ wording by editing WordPress’ translations.

    Or you can hide the whole title with a bit of CSS:

    .category .entry-title {
        display: none;
    }

    Yes, but the title still says CATEGORY: XXX

    Yours is just so much better. WordPress should adopt your version.

    I’d like to change the default header title on my Archives page. It currently reads: “CATEGORY: [category name]” I would like it to read: “[MY CUSTOM LABEL: [category name]”

    Where is the code to make this change? Thanks!

    I have tried to do this but I cant find a way. Does anyone know how to remove it? I just want the name of the site, not to have “Category:” in front of it

    Below the header, after the breadcrumbs menu, it says “Category: Portfolio” – I’d like to remove the word “Category” from any/all of those headers please. I’m utilizing the category, obviously, to create this page – to show all items from that category. If there’s a different/better way to accomplish this, please let me know.

    My website (diannemercado.com) uses a category link to show blog posts, but I want to remove the title “Category: ____” that appears at the top of the page (below the main navigation menu) when I click to reach my blog posts. Please help!
