Parabola 1.4.3 packs a few

After a long, deserved and relaxing winter break Parabola returns into the world only to find a changed WordPress. Things are different now, rules somehow feel heavier… There’s still some time left, but she can’t help but let her thoughts roam wild… What will happen next? Will she be able to adapt?

In the meantime, this is one of the larger updates (not in file size but in the number of items fixed, changed, added or improved), so remember to check the changelog for all the info.

Changelog:

  • fixed wp.media issue
  • fixed a weird save issue affecting only some servers caused by an apostrophe in the sample custom footer text
  • fixed translation namespace typo in comments (thanks to Mihai)
  • improved Customizer code for latest theme test unit checks
  • corrected title tag code to adhere to latest WordPress guidelines
  • replaced wp_convert_bytes_to_hr() (deprecated) with size_format()
  • replaced get_bloginfo(‘url’) with home_url() per latest WordPress guidelines
  • fixed mobile menu placeholder not visible on RTL sites
  • fixed max-width leftovers in editor-style.css (among other things making large images appear distorted in the editor)
  • fixed layout/image border option non-clickable on IE 11
  • fixed disappearing/shrinking images inside tables issue on Chrome
  • improved two somewhat untranslatable strings (that used esc_attr__() )
  • fixed PHP notice in settings page when theme news are not available
  • fixed slides count limitation when using custom posts by ID
  • fixed header social icons overlapped by header widget (when set)
  • fixed category page with intro to follow category excerpt option, not homepage excerpt option

  1. Hi thanks to this wonderful theme. I’m missing the opportunity to DIRECTLY show a vimeo or youtube-video in posts and columns. I mean to make the a video directly visibible, thanks for helping,

    Bastian

ps: If I give 25 USD, do I get support for 2 or 3 websites using the parabola theme?

    1. To embed a remote video you’ll need to use a dedicated plugin (like Jetpack and it’s video embed feature).

One donation will cover premium support for more than one website for a limited number of questions and only if the sites are your own personal sites and you’re not creating them for clients.

    1. A plugin is messing up the theme slider by adding additional content. Test out which one it is by temporarily disabling any gallery/slider/video plugins you may have.

    1. Make sure you use images of the same size (and preferably the same size you configured for the slider in the settings). The slider does not force images to any particular size/aspect ratio.
