  1. Hi, I’m trying to customize the theme by child theme, but when I enable the child theme, there are errors:
    Warning: require_once……….
    Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: ………

    The problem is in functions.php, if I remove all the old content and only add new things, that would be OK, but if I change old functions, there would be an error:
    Fatal error: Cannot redeclare ………

    How can I fix that?

      1. Thank you, my fault. I’ve read it for several times, but didn’t notice functions.php.
        But still, I have a problem……is that because I’m too fool……
        Anyway, I use the code
        if (!function_exists(‘mantra_pagination’)) {
        function mantra_pagination() {
        // The original content with some changes.
        }
        }
        to change an original function, it shows an error, and I delete the ‘!’ in it, I think it’s used for re-declare an exist function, the child theme works, but the changes don’t work……I really don’t know to do with it……help……::>_<::

    i want my mantra’s home with 3 columns and rest with 2 columns ,becoz i designing a magazine template.i added home.php to directory.and copied content from index.php
    please help me !!

    1. The message you posted yesterday is a few posts above this one.
      And we didn’t test any plugins for a header slider so you’ll have to try them out yourself. Do let us know what you find 😉

    I have a question, when I enable Pagination in Miscellaneous Settings, I want it to show the current page number and the total page number, how can I do that?

      2. I am trying to create a multilingual website (3 languages)
        With your mantra theme and polylang(multilingual plugin).

        I am looking for ways to make the presentation page to cope with the browser language. Polylang handle it very well for the PAGE and Post, but not the presentation page.

        Any solution or i need to recreate the presentation page from PAGE

    Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_get_theme() in /virtual/rmrynkowski.cba.pl/wp-content/themes/mantra/functions.php on line 905
    What should I do?
    I have a version WordPressa 3.3.2.

  13. I am currently trying to build my company website using WordPress Mantra. Since upgrading to the latest versions of WP and Mantra the presentation slider on my front page has stopped working. All the image links seem to be fine and i’ve tried replacing these with new links to images but it still wont work. Not all of my site is published yet but the presentation page loaded fine before the upgrade so I’m wondering what I can do to fix this? Advice would be much appreciated!

  14. Is it possible to hide the “Leave a Comment” blurb from front page posts? I’ve turned off comments in WordPress Settings (as noted in your tutorial), and clicking “Leave a Comment” on the front page takes you to the frustrating “Comments are closed” message. This would leave a bad impression with visitors.

    Love the theme, I am in the process of changing my .com site to a .org. A couple of questions;

    1. Can you tell me how to hide or use the ‘read more’ link at the bottom of the presentation page columns? I have added some text but it remains visible at the end, rather than on blog posts where I utilised the functionality.

    2. I have imported my blog from my .com site and most of the links and embedded videos do not work. Is this a common problem?

    1. Hi Colin. For number 1, just remove the read more in the presentation page option. It is next to the presentation page columns. It is under the image height option

        1. Hi Colin, if you go into the presentation settings and then to the presentation column part of this you will have number of columns, image height and then a read more text box. If you make sure that box is empty and it shouldn’t appear on your presentation page anymore.

          I have removed it from there and it doesn’t show on mine anymore

    2. Hi Colin, re number 2. If they are embedded, they are likely to address to your .com site instead of your .org site. You may well need to go through your posts and change the links one by one. This is a common issue with site changing and embedded links

        1. Hi Chris,Finally got round to start updating my video links only to find they will not show on a post. I have tried the standard upload function and also tried adding the Video Sidebar Widgets plug-in but with no effect. Any ideas?

    I have two questions: The first is regarding the mobile layout:
    >Is it possible to have items (e.g. Adsense) in the Primary Widget Area – Sidebar 1 display before the content begins?
    Desktop question:
    > Is it possible to make the Sidebar 1 fixed, i.e. not scroll?

        After a update Graphene fucks my site up, so i came to Mantra! 😉 What i´m missing: the hooks- administration to make more special sidebars.. es ” after_post”..

        I read above, that there are any hooks in Mantra..
        Is there a list or a doku arround..?

    If my question has been addresses previously, I am not finding it.

    Is there a way to limit the number of page navigation “tabs” that show in the header? I have several pages that I would rather link to from the footer, sidebars, or from other pages and not have them seen and accessed by everyone that shows up onsite.

    Maybe there is another way to exclude another way to exclude pages from showing in the navigation? On this Mantra site, you have 8 tabs across the top of the page but yet you link to numerous other pages in your sidebar.

    As I add pages, it starts a second row of tabs and just keeps on going.

    1. There are other pages that show when you hover over the menu, they are just child pages of the pages at the top. You would set the pages to be a child of the parent when you create it.

      1. I don’t want to make them into child pages. I don’t want to have them show at all except when I link to them from elsewhere.

        I am referring to various admin type pages, email autoresponder pages, etc that I don’t want to give everyone access to except if I directly send them there.

        how can I exclude these pages from the navigation tabs across the top?

        1. You can do it by creating a menu and adding the pages to the menu that you want to show across the top. You can exclude whatever pages you wish that way

    1. That’s not an error it’s a WordPress limitation at the moment. The featured image when used as a header is not a background image anymore but it is an actual image in the HTML.
      We will hover try to go around that and make it look the same. In one of the next updates of course.

  23. Hey you lovely Mantra people. Is it easy to make a child theme from the main theme? I have had a look at the functions file and it doesn’t seem like there are filters/actions for some of the functions

    1. Child themes work with the Mantra theme very well . Many people use them.

      All the WordPress actions hooks and filters work but as Mantra is a highly customizable theme we didn’t create many hooks of our own if that’s what you mean.

      It’s not a priority at the moment but we will do in the future when we get to rearranging and cleaning our code.

      1. That is what I meant. I will keep a copy of the functions that I changed and just add them back as the theme is updated. Thanks for the answer though

  24. Hi,
    I am doing a complete redesign of my site using Mantra and I love it.
    One quick question… is there a place to set the meta name for the presentation page. The other pages all get named with the SEO plugin but there is no EDIT PAGE for the presentation page. The sub-directories all have a nice pretty name on the browser tab but the home page or presentation page doesn’t. How can I fix this?

  25. Well i was updating this theme, but when i did’t it came up this “Briefly unavailable for scheduled maintenance. Check back in a minute.” and now my site is not going up. What is going on? was updating to the newest version of this theme.

    love this theme! it’s perfect for what my client wanted. I’ve been modifying some using a child theme — however the only thing I can’t figure out how to do is have the navigation tabs right-align to the page instead of left-align.

    If you could possible let me know what I need to edit to do so, I’d really appreciate it!

      1. ah! sorry thought it would appear with the initial info I entered. It’s journeysandmemories.com I got the tabs to move over, but now they are too far to the right and the current page state is off some.

  28. So it’s my first time really messing around with WP and I found the mantra theme and have decided to use that for my ‘local music/gigs/etc’ site. I’m going with the presentation frontpage hoping I can eventually hack a “check to add to slider” option for posts. But until then I just want to say what a nice theme this is.
    I managed to do this, but was wondering if there is a more efficient way http://pastebin.com/5hTHBCsf . (I’m not too adept with functions)

    1. Wow! Real nice work you did there. As a matter of fact, we are working right now on implementing pretty much what you did there. You will be able to choose between latest posts, random posts, the same for a chosen category, and even a manual post selector.

      Hopefully that will be available in 1.9.1 and after that we’ll implement something similar for the columns.

    While working on a friend’s site (got her to use Mantra over another theme), we found a problem with the navigation. In organizing the tabs, we see the sub-pages shown under the tab but, any pages that are sub to the sub-pages don’t appear to the right, they cover up the sub-pages. I have set it up on my website where it can be observed.

      1. I am the new user of WordPress as well as creating blog/site.
        I got the same problem. The problem is still exists even I have update the Mantra to 1.9.0. (WP version is 3.3.2)
        Can you suggest what I need to to? Any other setting will affect this?

    First of all thanks for this great theme.
    I’m quite new to WP so please forgive me if my question is dumb 🙂
    I have two tables in a page and, no matter what I do, they stretch to the full width of the page.
    I tried to reduce the table width to, say, 80% and also put a fixed width in pixels but… nothing.
    Any idea?

        I think I managed by wrapping the table in a though. I should be all right for now, then.
