You can try this CSS:

Captions are automatically hidden when you use custom slides and leave the title/text fields empty. There is currently no easy way to disable captions on post-based slides.

You can however use any slider plugin to do that.

Please check the available documentation and search the forums before starting a topic.Brian, did you lose settings (revert to default values) as well or is the settings page empty/unusable? The two issues are not the same.
For the empty/unusable theme settings page, update the theme to at least version 1.2 or revert WordPress to 4.3. There is no simpler solution. The cause is explained here.

If you just wanted the content background to be transparent (so the site background is visible behind the text), you could have done that by simply leaving the theme’s content background color field empty in the settings.
