Mantra 1.9.8 and 1.9.9

Yap, it’s that time of the… indefinite amount of time again. Two new theme versions that bring us unbelievably close to version 2.0. And what a surprise will version 2.0 bring? Boy oh boy! Well until then here are the changelogs:

    Oh I think the notice of losing customizations should be changed, It makes nervous. The customization looks great in the screenshot of theme package.

    • Zed says:

      That notice warns about losing files customization (since all files are replaced on updates). It’s the default WordPress warning and cannot be changed.
      Theme settings are kept between updates, but backups are always the preferred step before updating :)

  2. Hi – I like this theme a lot – only one small small niggle I have is the shape of the sidebar headers – is there a way to alter those for ones that are entirely square or have rounded edges on all edges rather than the current ones that have 3 square edges and a rounded one?

    Thanks

    All tabs restored on IE8…How?
    I don’t know, really. Uninstall and reinstall of Mantra didn’t do it…(viewed on 2 XP computers). So I did some house cleaning, deleting a number of unused plug-ins, and amazingly the tabs are restored! My viewers will not be distraught…but I have no idea how this happy state of affairs has transpired. I certainly did not do any menu editing.

    What he is saying is that the most recent update has destroyed the tabs when using Internet Explorer. As my viewers are old people who typically don’t have three browsers available, what they will see is a long string of page titles in a tiny font and a color that is nearly invisible. Firefox and Safari are fine.
    I know that it is a nuisance for you to get your splendid theme to work with IE, (which is a piece of horse exhaust). I pointed out the loss of header images several updates ago in IE, which you promptly fixed.
    Is it possible to have one or two previous versions of Mantra available to download if the update has unanticipated consequences? I really enjoy using this theme. Mantra has more versatility than most of the WP themes.

    After updating Mantra to the latest version, I lost the “Home” tab in the navigation. How to recover? Thanks.

    Also after updating the side bar is condensed for http://www.fastencil-asia.com/order-now/ and http://www.fastencil-asia.com/what-does-it-look-like/ Do you have any tips on how to make the side bar full-sized again?
    But the tabs for “latest news” and “contact us” do not have this problem. Thanks

    • Kay says:

      You probably updated from a much older version. Anyway just edit those pages, don’t change anything and save them again. It should be back to normal.
      Also the menu we are using is not part of Mantra or WordPress itself for that matter – it’s called UberMenu and you’ll find it here http://wpmegamenu.com/ . It costs a bit but it’s really worth it.

        I have purchased the menu, but am now having problems ensuring it spans across the web page. I found this code which allows the menu to sit properly on top, but it still won’t span, even choosing the options inside the plugin.

        #megaMenu {
        position: relative !important;
        top: 0px !important;
        left: 0px !important;
        z-index: 9999 !important;
        width: 1050px !important;
        }

        Any suggestions would be appreciated. http://www.gs-distributing.com

    Quick question, any instructions on how to make the menu at the top of the web page just like yours here at riot reactions – ie boxes instead of round corners? Thanks in advance

    I think I may have discovered a bug in Mantra 1.9.9. I use the Extracts feature on my homepage, but now that I’ve updated from 1.9.7 to 1.9.9. (think I missed 1.9.8) my home page now consists of full posts. I would have a look at the files, but my host company is bouncing my ftp atm, so I can’t tell you exactly what the fix is… but then you might know :)

  9. Save Ganga says:

    thanks for releasing updates
    I was waiting for this update as i am customizing mantra for one of my website. I am new to wordpress development if you can help me how i can override or replace function via action hooks.

    thanks again for this nice theme mantra

  10. TC says:

    When I go to update from 1.9.8. to 1.9.9, it says “Updating this theme will lose any customizations you have made.”
    Does that mean all the Mantra settings (layout, presentation page etc.)? I haven’t changed any code/files, just made selections in the regular Mantra options.

    • Zed says:

      “Any file customizations” would be the adequate meaning. Theme settings (configured in the Mantra Settings page) are (99% of times) kept between updates.
      But there’s also the “Export Settings” option, just to be on the paranoiac safe side – always make sure you have plenty of backups is my way of doing things :D
