Content disclaimer

You probably got here after you sent us a (possibly threatening) email asking us to remove some random content from some random website.

If that website is THIS website, we might do that if you could really prove your point…. But in 99,999(9)% cases we can’t. And here’s why…

You probably found our name on some website you have an issue with. That website was set up by somebody (its author), and since our name is there in the footer (maybe next to the word “by”), we must be the author, right? WRONG!

In the construction of any single website our name may be on there are several authors involved:

  • A. the author(s) of WordPress or OpenCart – these are the CMS‘ used to build the websites
  • B. the author(s) of the theme *yours truly* – this is what gives the particular colours/structure/look to the websites
  • C. the author(s) of the website – the person (or persons) who took the time to download and install WordPress or OpenCart, then download and install our theme, then added content to that website, content you have a problem with. This/these person(s) is/are sole responsible for the content of the website.

Now lets make an analogy so the less tech-savy can understand:

Some manufacturer (A) makes footballs. We (B), make green paint. Some kid (C), buys a football made by A, paints it with our (B) paint, and while playing with it, kicks it at your window and breaks your window.  Now do you:

  1. tell the kid to repair your window / pay for damages?
  2. tell the paint manufacturer to repair your window?
  3. tell the football manufacturer to repair your window?

Yes, you know that one – the correct answer is 1).

But since we sent you to this page, you must’ve chosen 2) the first time round. Did we clear this up?

If we didn’t then we’re sorry, but there’s nothing we can do about. Just like the green paint manufacturer cannot control which windows do kids who paint footballs green with their paint kick them at, the same way we cannot control how particular individuals on this planet use our work.

Bottom line is: We take no responsibility for what websites that use our work choose to display / show / post / publish / say / list / attach / describe / inform / misinform / so on… Please take all your grievances to CORRECT author(s). It’s as simple as who.is.
