Tempera 1.2.3/4/5/6 fights the system

No, we haven’t lost our minds; this is not a reverse countdown (a countup?). And we did not release a quadruple-update-in-one either.

This cryptic title deserves a decent explanation and it’s actually simpler than it seems: it appears I was overconfident on the WordPress review process the last time. While they did wonders then and managed to verify and approve two updates in the same day, the sun doesn’t always shine… in fact it got terribly dark after that. Worse still… the sun changed. Never mess with mantra they say (or was it nirvana…)

Yup, WordPress changed (or rather updated) their rules on what is accepted, what is recommended and what is refused in a theme. And nobody considered to inform us. And we were too pre-occupied with actually making the updates that we forgot to dive through and find the new rules ourselves.

So here comes Tempera 1.2.3, a nice, quiet, decent, well-mannered update that stayed in line for the review process, only to be slammed against the wall and thrown out the window for not fitting with the new rules. It picked itself up and came back to us, only to be sent back to WordPress in the form of 1.2.4 (which we hoped solved things).

But we weren’t so lucky. Things turned from bad to worse and took us two more tries (1.2.5 and 1.2.6) to get things right. But here it is folks, the pride and joy of our fight against the system – Tempera 1.2.6.

So without further (horrendous) ado, the changelog(s):

Tempera 1.2.6

  • fixed “array to string conversion” notices (on PHP 5.5)

Tempera 1.2.5

  • fixed “More Posts” button on presentation page affecting blog pages

Tempera 1.2.4

  • optimized Google font calls
  • added link to the theme’s settings page in the customizer
  • made all CSS minify-able (should now support all caching plugins that perform resource minification)
  • fixed a reverse border styling affecting menu items when menu is centered
  • improved RTL styling (partially provided by lior)
  • fixed title tag issue
  • fixed undefined notices on options save

Tempera 1.2.3

  • various menu fixes
  • finally fixed presentation page “More Posts” button not really
  • fixed a weird save issue affecting only some servers caused by an apostrophe in the sample in custom footer text (thank to Gordon and Bembis for helping us with the test environment)
  • fixed wp.media issue
  • corrected title tag code to adhere to latest WordPress rules
  • removed meta template tag
  • removed leftover meta author tag
  • replaced wp_convert_bytes_to_hr() (deprecated) with size_format()
  • replaced get_bloginfo(‘url’) with home_url()

  1. Hi, I am so frustrated, I am a novice so I have to turn to Forums to help me with solutions. Somehow my “comment box” gets duplicated whenever I allow comments and so far none of the online help works for me. Can you take a look at my website, which is not much, and help me figure out how to get rid of one of the “Comment Boxes”. I want to totally beef this site up so I can really make it public, but I don’t want people seeing the 2 boxes.

Please also respond to my email; lolabarteck@yahoo.com

    Thanks for any help!

  2. I would really love it if it supported infinite scroll. Especially on the home page. Have jetpack installed and want my homepage to infinite scroll the latest posts at the bottom instead of putting a hard limit on it. Also category pages to do the same. Is this possible in a future update?

  3. HOW DO I STOP THIS PAGE SHOWING ON MY HOME PAGE?

Tempera is living on the edge, waiting for you to come and give it a push!

Above and below the columns you have editable titles and text fields. The text fields […]

  4. Hi!. Tempera is a GREAT theme! I haven’t had this much fun in a long time. Thank you. There is an issue that has cropped up. If I am logged into WordPress and Tempera, the cryout column animation works great. The image slides away and the text appears. Cool! However, the moment I log off, bang the animation stops working. I have tested in Chrome, Firefox and Safari and I use a Mac for all my work. Am I doing something wrong? Or is there some compatibility issue? I’m waiting to show off my website to the world. Thank you for producing a great theme. Donations should be done before Christmas!

    1. Use your browser’s tools to inspect for Javascript errors. That’s usually the cause of most slider not working issues. A particular plugin may / may not load some code depending on the authentication status.

  5. Hey everybody!
It looks that Tempera works quite wrong on Internet Explorer.
    – Submenus from Menu over slider doesn’ fall down
    – Columns content on start page shows only in 2 columns and animation in them don’ look in the same way as on Mozilla and Chrome

Is any way to repair that? Some people use IE 🙁
    Please for quick answer

    Best regards

  6. Soon i will be making donation because I need theme customization support and some css tweaks . As of now I am still building and experimenting on my local computer.

Tempera has this problem: The numbered list only displays single digit numbers. from 10 onwards, it displays 0, 1, 2, … and so on. I tried changing the “Content Margins” but that does not help.

    Any help?
