I am using Nirvana for the first time and I do not understand how to make the slider work on my home page. My home page is a static page. It is the only page I want to have the slider working. How do I do that please? Best Regards, Leokadia

You need to turn off the static home page for the slider (and the rest of the theme’s presentation page) to become visible.

The reverse way of how you activated it, from under Settings > Reading.
Set the homepage option to “latest posts” instead of a static page.
