Search icon and hamburger icon

    Hi,

I have a problem with the last update.

The search icon in the sidebar is replaced by a symbol (as a missing image) on Mozilla and a kind of Asian symbol on Edge and Chrome. However, the icon is right in the images folder.

Furthermore, since the previous update, on smartphone, the hamburger icon doesn’t work anymore. You can click on but nothing is happening, whereas before, the menu appeared well.

How can I fix it ?

We’ve updated some styling (including the icon) and JS code in the last update. Force refresh / clear your browser’s cache and check if the issues resolve themselves.

Same problem here, clearing cache didn’t help. Also, the text inside search box changed. Please look into this asap!

Sorry for the late reply, but the problem is the same like Knut says. Is there any solution ?

Lydia, you did not correctly set up the child theme. A child theme should only contain the changes/differences from the parent theme, not the complete copied over styling (and perhaps files?).

Have a look at our child themes tutorial:

I know there is 2 ways to create css of the child theme :
    – create a file with only differences
    – create a copied file of the parent theme + the differences

I choose the second way to speed up loading.

But I just activated a few moments the parent theme to see if it worked and the magnifying glass reappeared.

So I will change the CSS when I have more time.

However, the problem of the hamburger persists despite the activation of the parent theme.

Style files don’t need to be copied over to the child theme. Use the @import to include them (or enqueue them with PHP) and only include the differences in the child theme’s style.css.

It was done but the icon still does not work on mobile.

The mobile menu doesn’t work due to a JavaScript issue – a plugin (optimizer?) you are using is breaking WordPress’ jQuery library functionality (which our theme needs).

Indeed, I have the plugin “WP deferred javaScript” that, once turned off, allowing the icon to work again.

It was to speed up loading of my website, but I see (via GTmetrix) that there are other priorities that I can do nothing, because it concerns basic images of tempera theme for the majority.

    Thank you.
